This week we're showing the making of a gold wedding band but not any ordinary wedding ring, it's mechanised. This is perfect solution for anyone who suffers with arthritis or larger knuckles. It's taken us years to develop this mechanism and we're very proud to share it with you today.

Amazing video I want to try making this now lol going to save this for a future project!!! I just finished setting up my gentec small torch, I think butane would struggle on some of this but very Cool subscribed!!

Welcome - yes, butane is a bit slow. I find propane does it all. Can your new torch handle it?

OMG!!!! You got it!!! That was a GREAT video great! Even your hand movements made sense. I loved it and totally understand everything! Great drawings and the showing of every move in making the ring. Thank you so much for this video and the drawings. These hinges are on point. what i love is that you're making the wire thickness you need for the tube/chenier and then drilling them out. Clever but super sensible. i have been making and reducing the tube sizes needed, this makes much more sense. you can totally control wall thickness this way! what model of table drill/bits are you using? i don't recognise it. the smaller clasp hinge looks terrifying, but the way you've explained, i feel like its totally possible. i love the path up to the click!! With the two flaps, you are filing them into curve or can you bend them as well? filing will keep the strength, but i just wanted to check if that will detract from integrity. my mother in law really needs this type of ring! your advice to make a larger version as a bangle is great! I will start and post progress pictures on instagram. i've been following each reel there! Thank you for your generosity, i can tell how much time, thought and determination has gone through this design. i love the margin roller at the end to blend everything together. Can i ask what is the tool you're using at 2:45 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qraYY7Sdp7W6iHU.html also, why do you anneal your wire suspended? sorry, so many questions! thank you!!

So glad you liked it - I’m using Busch drills and the tool you are referencing is from Knew concepts. Also, I split the part which folds over and bend it towards the edge. Round the inside where it’ll meet and then just remove the other half by filling. This mechanism has developed over an obsession I’ve had with simplifying a complicated version and it’s been tested over years of trial and error. Hey, I've just found your channel and it's so cool that you've made these instructional videos! I will definitely be watching in the future. I've just started my own jewellery business after years of working for someone else and it's videos like this that feel inspiring to me! On a side note, I would have loved to hear the 'click' of the mechanism.

Welcome and good luck - yeah, it would have been good - we record the one bit throughout the day and usually I’ve got music blaring which is a problem for KZfaq - but I agree, missed opportunity there. It exists in its full glory but some other guy will monetize my videos.

That's a really nice design and great work! Are there any special tips on how to work precisely? I'm struggling a bit with making those mating parts on pieces with hinges to meet perfectly. I guess it comes with lots of experience but I'm wondering if there are ways to get better faster :) Miter jig helps a lot on square parts, but when it comes to curves, there's always a struggle

Thanks 🙏🏻 yes, the detail comes with time - but it does end up coming - so just put the time into it. Try making a bigger version perhaps for a bangle to get the basic principle and then when you have that down, scale it down 👍🏻

Hi, I have a somewhat unrelated question. A customer wants to reduce the thickness of a stud in a stud earring, because it's uncomfortable to wear. The piece is quite intricate and has stones, so just cutting it off and soldering a new one is not feasible. Is there a way to do that? My best thought is just filing it and then rolling back and forth between two flat metal things until it's round again

I would use my escapement files. Something very fine and put the time into getting equal parts off as you go around. Using two metal plates to round them should then not be necessary. Try and avoid any pressure on these as you say they are fragile. Hope this helps, Jaco
