Holy shit. He said when he came to after getting knocked out from the blast, he thought he got hit by an IED so he knew it was probably an ambush and that there would be small arms fire, so he looks for his rifle, and takes his pistol out to try and engage any targets. This man looked death straight in eye and said he was busy. Massive respect for all of those guys.

This man is a highly intelligent US citizen born in France who speaks at least two languages chose an officer career in the US Army and made the choice to save his team at the sacrifice of himself. It could have easily cost him his life, thank the powers at be it was only a leg. Incredibly humble, incredibly loyal, Clearly willing to serve just as much as he ever was. Living legend, true hero, true inspiration I wish the best on him and all his future endeavors his sacrifice and the merit he has shown on the battlefield and in the service will clearly never be forgotten nor should it be.

I watched a video before this one and it talked about some of the perks of MOH recipients. One of the things they get is free rides for life on military aircraft anywhere in the world they go. They also get a bump in their pension for life. There are many "perks", but I'm sure it still isn't enough payback for what they have done for their fellow soldiers and the country.

As a Canadian, what I know about war from my childhood was from my Grandfather (who fought for Britain in WW2). What i know from him is absolutely nothing, the power of silence coming from a man who was more powerful than anyone I've ever met. Regardless of whatever labels are usually attached to me, as a young person living in social media zeitgesit; It's people like this who make me tear up just thinking of the kind of bravery I could never myself commit. I've always had an avid interest in MOH recipients because they represent the best and bravest our species has to offer. I also consider myself a secularist and advocate of science as a the new social catalyst, I still see our soldiers and our bravest as peers to our genius.

I served almost 23 years in the Army and 4 combat tours and I was severely injured in an IED blast that cost 2 other Soldiers their life. I had survivor guilt and still do to this day, so believe it when I say that if we as warriors could trade places with our fallen brothers we would in a second. He is a true American hero and a warrior in the truest sense of the word! He and others like him should ve honored as often as possible. When I was hurt, we didnt see it coming......this Officer and Soldier made a conscious decision to tackle this suicide bomber knowing full well that it will most likely cost him his life, but he did it anyway, to protect " the boss" and his fellow warriors....that is what sets him apart from Soldiers like me and others.....that is what truely makes him a hero!!! I hope and pray that he and his family live a long and prosperous life filled with nothing but happiness and success.

This man has true iron courage, far more than I could have ever mustered to be sure. He truly misses his friends, and he means what he says. He would switch himself for them if he could in a second if he could bring them back doing so. His wounds in his heart probably greatly exceed the wounds his body took. I hope one day he finds healing.

I was in awe when he told that part.. Looking at your own destroyed leg and being able to accept any confusion caused by your loss of memory; analyse what the damage to your leg can tell you about the situation you're in; and deciding what comes next -- all in a split second. The only small note on what you wrote, is that the sensation of pain might be absent due to shock and adrenaline. But that doesn't take away from the situational awareness that you mentioned; I fully agree. One hell of a human being.

As an army vet, non combat, over 5 yrs. active duty incl. 30 mos. as a flight operations Sp5 at two chopper bases in W. Germany ending over 50 yrs. ago, it's an honor to see and hear this man of incredible bravery. At over 73 I've had just two very minor operations. May you have a wonderful life , captain.

I was in the emergency room that day helping when all those casualties came in.. it was on FOB Fenty in Jalalabad. i can't for sure say i remember him but he certainly looks familiar. if anyone has any insight to his injuries. he looks like the guy that i helped that had a pretty banged up arm. at the time i certainly didn't know this act of heroism took place. it makes me feel good to know that i did my part in helping this dude.

Visited this place 2 times in 2 years, and I love the atmosphere and respect we have for each other so much. Brings you back to the essentials and this feeling of love for each other. Wow, you can tell from his demeanor, his intelligence, and even the way he moves he is one committed badass on the battlefield. I'll bet he was all business, and business was good.

I've been binge watching these interviews and I'm not one to cry often but I've teared up at every interview. Listening to these stories you can really picture what it was like for them. God bless this man and every soldier who puts their life on the line for us. 🇺🇸 Also did he get a purple heart? I didn't see it on his uniform.

I've been tested as a civilian law enforcement officer and officer of military police where I've been in life threatening situations. I was given the honor of risking my life in defense of and to save others. It seems I passed my tests. Blessings to CPT Groberg. A blessed American. He's why America 'works' as born French and later being American. Thanks for your service to our imperfect, but blessed, loved American.

madmax21st Stupid comment. I'm glad he delivered his message to France in French. It's just that it would have been nice if the rest of the audience (most of whom are not French-speaking) could also hear a translation of the message afterward so that we could appreciate and applaud it. Obviously we're all curious.

@@lintottish It's patriotic to inform people, to expose lies, while it's unpatriotic to obstruct justice. Stephen Colbert also went to Afghanistan himself and did more for the American troops than many politicians who only claim that they love the troops for their votes and do nothing for them.

Wow, I had tears in my eyes listening to what he did. Nothing but respect for being a Hero. I know that term is put a lot but Captain Groberg you are the real deal. Thank you, Sir, for your bravery and sacrifice.
