This is a quick relocation flight moving our helicopter from the hospital to the hangar due to an incoming thunderstorm.

Sure had me concerned when the rotors spun backwards. Then the pilot called out Aerostar and I settled down. I prefer American made aircraft; Bell helicopters are my preference. Still, good crew usage and a fine mission. These three men are heroes for what they do daily. God bless them and keep 'em safe.

I miss the A star as a Flight Nurse/Paramedic. I currently work on the 407. I've worked on 407s in the past and there are things I like about it, but the A star is superior in just about every way for doing the job, when comparing smaller helicopters.

Dirtman707 I wish I could! I have “retired” from being a firefighter and a flight paramedic. I am now a professional pilot, so unfortunately I no longer ride on the helicopter.

stewart baker thanks for the comment! I no longer work at the helicopter, and we were a VFR only program. That being said, I do currently fly MEDEVAC on a Learjet as a pilot this time. I know it’s not as cool as rotor wing, but I am investigating the legality of filming these flights, and considering if that is something I want to do.

@@TheRunwayRyan no investigation necessary. It’s 100% legal. There’s nothing in the reg’s stopping us. Just don’t video the patient and you don’t have to worry about HIPAA.

We did not use a callsign, just flew with the tail number which was N350BH. If we were on the way to a call or had a patient on board we said "Medevac" first. So "Medevac 350BH" or "Medevac Helicopter 350BH".

Currently going through Lake Superior College, should be graduated by the end of the year. The college portion has been pretty good, though they are going through a bit of an admin shuffle. The flight training (which is through Lake Superior Helicopters) has been great though. The instructors are awesome and know their shit. The school is in Duluth, MN so the winters can be rough, but the city and surrounding areas are amazing! Lots of national parks to hike, ski hills, and (my personal favorite) lots of breweries and distilleries.

Everyone is so desperate for pilots these days you don’t even need to worry with wasting time in college or the military. Just get your ticket at a local flight school and instruct for a year afterward then you can pretty much pick your dream job.
