What makes a location expensive is materials, food and rent from there. But let’s say you’re homeless, all you’re paying is for materials and food. Just order materials online then. Food and gas is the expense that ain’t changing much though

$2mill for houses in San Jose built in the 60s and 70s that originally bought at less then $100k. They need remodeling work and I'm sure other work.
