great video; it is hard to find this kind of info. Also I have heard that folks who sign up for plan g tend to be sicker, so that premiums for plan g will go up faster than premiums for plan n what do you think

I’ve done my research and I do have the cheapest company and the cheapest plan for my area. And you’re right about that area because my friend who does live a half hour from me has the same company and same plan and pays $40 less than me. I just received notice that as of January it’s going up to $207. My friend did not receive notice. It’s sad to think that eventually i’ll either have to get rid of a supplement or move.

In person is always best if possible. Proof of termination of employment, or last years tax return, deleting upon your situation.

Go to SSA.gov and download form SSA-44 the IRMAA waiver, carefully complete it and return. If you retired or had a life -changing event that reduced your income since taxes filed for 2019 (2-year look-back) they will consider it. If it was a one -time high income like you sold your house or otherwise had a one time capital gain reported, you will have to wait a year until that income becomes history and SS will look at the next tax year. Mainly they want to anticipate your income going forward to waive the added IRMAA.

your correct Medicare and Medigap plans are very confusing and you can't depend on the insurance companies to explain the differences. It seems that most insurance just want to push the advantage plans. They are quick to point out the few extra's advantage plans offer but slow if not unwilling to point out what you are giving up. And if you do choose a gap/supplement plan which one. You really need the assistance of an independent broker who specializes in Medicare insurance (like Stephanie) to review and compare your options.

Thats not what Im finding. 3 brokers. Wham bam thank you maam. Here take this booklet and thats it. You leave lost and confused but they get paid if you select a plan from them so you have to watch that too. Just like Drs. Herd em in. You have to learn all about ins yourself but I dont want to so i need to find someone to help figure the costs up front. I know my health conditions well, how many visits a year, what to expect etc etc but they don't even take the time to crunch #s. Sad.

No, carriers do not raise your rates based on your own individual claims.

Open Enrollment for Medicare Supplement Plans is not during the Fall, when many people think it is (the Fall "Annual Election Period" is for Part D drug Plans and Medicare Advantage). This video explains more -- kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i8h-qZScrtSdd30.html

If you change to a plan G from a plan F now, will you need to meet Medicare’s $198 deductible?

If you're Plan F has already paid the annual deductible for you, then no you wouldn't need to meet it again.

Do the rate changes change based on US regions? If someone lives in PA (Northeast US) and moves to Southeast US, will rates go up or down if you stay with the same Medigap insurance carrier?

In most cases if the insurance carrier offers the same plan in your new state then the Medigap carrier will adjust your rates to match the rates of their Plan in the new state after you move.
