I am over 65, still working, and have company health insurance with drug coverage. Now I want to apply for Medicare Part A. However, Medicare Part A will be backdated 6 months. This means if I apply in July, the effective and eligible date for my Medicare Part A is January. The no-penalty Medicare Part D enrollment timeframe is 63 days after becoming eligible for Medicare. Even if I apply for Medicare Part D in July, it is way past the 63-day window. Am I at risk for a Part D penalty because if I apply in July, I am eligible for Part D in January? Secondly, how do I know if the drug insurance under my current health plan meets Medicare Part D standards? I have contacted our HR, but no one knows about it. I am looking forward to your guidance.

Absolutely ridiculous that seniors should see $400-500 deduction ea month from their SS checks for MEDICARE INSURANCE. They should pay ZERO. This country pushes the elderly to the side after they've given their entire lives paying into building it. Then non-Americans waltz in and get these benefits for FREE. Soon, 50% of our SS checks will go to taxes, insurance, and 'deductions'. Something is terribly wrong here.

Started Medicare at age 65 in 2018 and went with plan G. It was $126 a month. Since then, I have changed G plan companies twice from the original company due to high-rate increases. This year my AARP/United Health plan ballooned from $179 a month to $211. I was done with plan G and at age 71 went on plan N where I am paying $113 a month. Fortunately, I am healthy and every time I have gone through underwriting I passed easily. My friends are not so fortunate and are now stuck. One has even contemplated an Advantage plan and upon asking what I thought about that, and I replied I personally would rather crawl a mile over broken glass before entering the managed care route.

Here is the compelling case for choosing regular Medicare with Part D and Medigap if it's financially feasible. Here are some key points: Direct Access to Specialists: Regular Medicare allows you to see specialists without needing a referral from a primary care doctor, saving time and reducing hassle. Medication Coverage: With Medigap and Part D, you have coverage for prescription drugs without needing additional approvals, ensuring immediate access to necessary medications. Simplified Approval Process: Traditional Medicare usually involves fewer pre-authorization requirements compared to Medicare Advantage plans, making it easier to get the care you need without delays. Flexibility and Peace of Mind: Regular Medicare and Medigap provide the flexibility to choose your healthcare providers and receive care anywhere in the country, which is invaluable if unexpected health issues arise. For those who can afford it, the combination of Medicare, Medigap, and Part D offers comprehensive coverage with fewer administrative hurdles. However, for those on a tight budget, Medicare Advantage can still offer substantial benefits, despite the potential for more restrictions and approval processes.

I don't care about medigap because its only for the rich, middleclass can't afford medigap, so they take the Medicare advantage plans which is just fine with me. just wish all could have Medicare for all, are politicians are owned by billionaire donors so that will never happen because all politicians care more about donor money over saving human lives ,other than Bernie Sanders

I had multiple myeloma and leukemia ALL cancers and thank God I had Plan Each time I was in the hospital the deductible for Medicare Part A inpatient hospital services in 2024 is $1,632 per benefit period was covered. You pay this amount each time you have to enter the hospital for a while, so Plan G for those who have to sometimes end up in the hospital that amount of money you would pay each time is covered time by Plan G. Going to the doctor is simply see you. How many monthly premiums does that amount of money pay for? Many. Also, I know we even have to think about how much money I’m spending to see any doctor because it’s covered for 100%

Question- If you pick an Advantage plan and then change your mind...can you still go back and change to a supplement plan during an open season (with no medical underwriting) if you are still within the initial 6 month window? Or do you lose the supplement plan (no medical underwriting guarantee) as soon as you enroll in and try an Advantage plan?

Questions (so many Q's). 1) My 65th birthday is in November. Due to health reasons and unwillingness to move to another university for work, I resigned. I was referred to an agent, D., who said he couldn't enroll me in an ACA plan in the interim, but referred me to B. saying he was a good guy who would take care of my needs. B. told me he is working on his own. Q1: Is this feasible? He texted me on Sunday. And he said he was working 7 days a week. Would you recommend continuing to work with him as a solo broker? 2) B. did a great job and was very reassuring when he signed me up for my interim marketplace plan. But overwhelmed me when we reviewed potential Medicare plans. I had so many questions. I watched him filter my options based on my current unemployed state and couldn't find one plan that accepted all of my providers (especially my PCP). Since I wasn't being enrolled, he sent me a link to a government website (not helpful) and said he would contact me in August. Feeling a bit obligated since he spent a few hours with me. Q2: I'd like to shop, other brokers instead of going with B., since he is the first broker I talked to. I would like to fully educate myself about my options. If I am upfront about it, would a broker be willing to review plans if I don't commit to working with them? What would be a reasonable amount of time they could give me? Q3: If brokers aren't willing to give time to a person who isn't committed to enrolling with them, is there a way I can review plans myself? So glad to have found your channel! You've demystified Medicare plans for me.
