It’s not our trophies or first place medals that make us who we are, it’s the experiences we have and the lessons we learn along the way. Those are what contribute to our future successes.

I feel like I need this video a lot, because yeah, I haven't gotten a single sale in my new etsy shop yet, but over the past 2.5 months I've drawn and created more art than I have in the past year, expanded my knowledge of e-commerce and online marketing tenfold (literally!), and I'm more motivated to do things I want/like (hiking, camping, boating) because that's the niche/theme of my store and I'm doing 'research'.

Don’t give up. For the 3 businesses I’ve setup (2 Etsy shops, 1 e-commerce for a friend) those have all taken 3 to 6 months to make a sale.

I get you sister! I started a KZfaq channel and the growth is slooow and the learning curve is hiiigh and steeeep. I have learned to reframe progress to remind myself of how far I’ve come by learning how to write, film, edit, publish and promote videos. What also helps me is rather than focus on all the people who are running wildly successful channels is to think about how many people “want” or “are thinking about” starting channels and haven’t and how many people who aren’t as far along as I am. It’s so true that learning, perseverance, and discipline are important measures of success in addition to sales and subscribers. So, we’re really much further ahead than we realized. I wish you all the best success and happiness in the future. And let us know what your store is so we can check out your merch.

I have an Etsy shop for 3 months now and no sale yet so I feel you. As you keep learning ways to overcome the market saturation, and do ads, you’ll see results. It takes time and money to make money. I’m in the same boat 🙌🏾

Weirdly enough this is what happened when getting my tattoos, instead of working on just getting a full sleeve I decided to slow it down and look for better artists, save up to travel and generally enjoy the tattooing process, this made me notice howmany mistakes I was doing getting random tattoos to fill my sleeve and made me stop going for even more stupid ideas

Issues with Outcome-Focused Thinking: 1. There is limited view of what success and failure look like. 2. It encourages an "at any cost" mentality, which can lead to unethical or unhealthy behaviors. I will explain these as two reasons to avoid focus on outcome and instead on process.

This is the detriment of myself right now , i can’t do the things i need to do in my business because im constant focused on upset in the outcome, and with relationships because i want everything right now i stead of enjoying the present. I’m lost, and i know this will be one of the deciding factors in my success

I agree with continuous improvement, learning from failures, and enjoying the journey. From a personal growth perspective, giving more weight to the process makes sense. It keeps us healthy, we learn a lot in that journey. However, the outcome is also important, especially when we are talking about organizations. When organizations focus solely on output without considering whether it leads to meaningful outcomes, they end up tackling the wrong problems. Some may get lucky.

This is tricky: getting clear on your end goal (starting with end in mind) is a helpful GTD step and crucial. Not the same as ignoring serendipitous discoveries on the way.
@ric6611
@ric6611 2 жыл бұрын
I agree, they aren't mutually exclusive. I believe GTD also incorporates periodic reviews of what you're doing. You can totally have an end goal in mind, and work towards it. Then, later down the line, review what you've done and realize that going for a different end goal might be more helpful in the long term.

So this might be a case in favor of patience. It makes you focus on the process rather than a possibly distant outcome. The outcome may be there simply to provide direction or rationale to the process, but the process is the real star.
