17 miles with 7,500ft of climbing and it was all worth it. Mount Adams in Washington is an amazing mountain that’s even better when the weather cooperates. In this episode Christof and I do an overnighter in the Gifford Pinchot National Forrest and summit Mount Adams in the process. The Pacific Northwest is yet to disappoint!

Let the motherfucking haters that will NEVER know what it's like to B/C show us how it's done. Show us YOUR video of you on the bunny slopes! Kiss my ASS and I splitboard with skiers 99% of the time, and I'm always the lag factor because of my gear, and just because... there are splitboarders that can keep up with skiers as well, but it's usually a skier dominated thing. One ski, 2 skis, but we snowboarders have to constantly switch, especially when you hit flats or need to ascend a mild slope which takes more time, usually making me the embarrassing lag factor that can even be dangerous! On the OTHER hand, it's me that will chase your ski or both of them, and recover it, whereas that never happens being a snowboarder. When you are B/C, we depend on each other for our lives, which is something that the haters don't get.

I agree with that sentiments. I don’t think dislikes should be used it just gives everyone the power to become an ego fulled critic. You should only be able to like a video dislikes are not constructive criticism. In this instance someone is either being picky about how this video was filmed, didn’t like Mountains and shouldn’t be here anyway or they were just being rude. This video is great and filmed at a top tier level

I was able to make this climb twice as a much younger man. For me it was really fun to relive. I must admit I am a bit envious of the modern gear. It certainly isn't the 1970,s anymore. 🤙

Snowshoes first...get yer shit together in the back areas...food, rescue, overnight, navigation. Add skis.

@@ccaissie113 I disagree. During my 20 years of skiing I have never touched a snowshoe :). Just jump into it and start skiing, but team up with someone who knows what they're doing if you want to explore avalanche risk areas.

@@ccaissie113 don't worry, wasn't planning on getting in the backcountry with nothing other than knowing how to ski! haha I will take an Avy course and get all my rescue gear. I've got a foundation with WFR/backcountry navigation/being a backcountry ranger. So I am fully aware that I am not aware of everything when it comes to snow travel. That is definitely part of the plan ;)

Great photography. You’re correct about the weather. Been up there in the summer when conditions were brutal. The more common ski route is the Southwest Chutes just the other side of the ridge. There used to be a sulfur mine on the summit plateau back in the 30s. Pack mules going up and down the south slope loaded with sulfur.

Mt. Adams was always one of my favorites because of it's remoteness. Many camp trips up there to Council Lake and Takhlakh Lake. Backpacked up that beast back in 2009. Great smoothie place at the fork in the road on the way up there next to the gas station. So glad I randomly found your videos being the mountain climbing/hiking addiction I have. Love the song at the end while you are skiing down, very early 80's Rush like.

Been enjoying your adventures for a while- thanks for sharing. Might be interested in a couple more WA trips. Check into 1) Mt Stuart up the West Ridge down Cascadian Couloir; 2) 23 miles thru The Enchancments with a climb of Prusik Peak or others - up via Aasgard Pass, down thru the alpine lakelets. Done in one day requires no permit:); 3) east of Mt Rainier- the Mt Aix/Mt Bismark traverse- nothing technical, but long, high and scenic w some routr finding.

Adams is the first mountain I ever summited and also the first skimo trip I ever went on. It is absolutely one of my favorites in the northwest. The sun rise might be the best in the northwest. And if you ever climb it again, the Southwest Chutes are so awesome! By far my favorite spring objective.

I have done Adams a few times. It is always the best ski of the year. Took my daughter up last time. Perfect corn on the way down. It was May 30th weekend, when I usually do it. Best ski there is.

Adams is a fun climb. I like that it's a bit more dry than a lot of mountains in the chain. On a very clear day, whish is pretty common in summer, you can see all the way from the Three sisters in Oregon to Mount Baker. If you are from the area or know it, you know that's a hell of a view.

It’s crazy how they were able to fly a drone up at the false summit. Never seen that before. Usually 30-40mph sustained wind there. I’ve been on the summit with as high as 60 mph sustained wind. Couldn’t even stand on top of the cabin. And that was in July.

I would say the drone stays in the bag %50 of the time due to weather, temperatures, restrictions and user error.

Come back in late spring or early summer and go to Pikers Peak and ski/board the SW Chutes. 3-3500’ of perfect 30-45° slope to rip (just the entrance is~45° and most is ~35°). It’s so good.

The worst thing to do when climbing into your sleeping bag for the night is to wear any of the clothing you plan to wear out in the cold the next day. It becomes saturated with your sweat and will make you so much colder. In scouts I had clothing that was mostly wool that was only to be used once to sleep in. I would then change into dry clothing . changing like that seems counterintuitive because you feel colder at first but youll be able to warm that set way faster than anything you slept in.

These volcanoes are part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, a volcanic arc along western North America that extends for more than 1100 km (700 miles) from southwestern British Columbia, through Washington, Oregon and into Northern California, and has resulted from the plate tectonics and lifting of the continental crust of the Cascadia subduction zone.

We both had fischer hannibal 96's and fischer travers boots as well as atomic backland bindings. I felt like it was the perfect setup for a summit like this. We both have a slightly lighter setup but felt like the fischer hannibal was a better ski to handle to unknown.
