But Medvedev wasn't trying to be villain. He only pointed out how ungracious the crowd was and did so politely. intelligently and reasonably. He did nothing in the match or in the interview afterwards that could even remotely be described as villainous behaviour

Only few bad apples. Normally aus crowd is amazing. I remember Safin beating Hewitt in AO final and crowd was respectful and gave the russian the ovation he deserved

This was a pretty mature and respectful way to handle the "mob". Medvedev can add flame sometimes but it's clear he can be a great sport about things and be respectful. Hate the mindless crowds that has to hate to love the sport. Why can't we appreciate what both players bring to the match? The same happened a few years ago when Sock played Elias Ymer here in Sweden. Sock was treated like shit by some douchebag fans. I felt ashamed to have him treated like that in our country...

Let's be honest here. It doesn't matter which country you're from. I'm from France and I know the public can be a prick when their favourite frenchie don't win a match. But it's the same sh.t everywhere isn't it ? I think it depends more of the player than the crowd. If, for example, your country player has a very likeable personality and they lost to someone that showed him disrecpect all match long, then you can be sure the crowd won't shut their mouth. In this instance, it's Medvedev. I think he's a little awkward. He's young. He didn't grow the same way we're used to. Which can lead to incomprehensibles situations. Kind of like if you were a stranger and were to go to Japan and didn't show much respect to the elders as much as the japaneses do. The elders will feel like they didn't get much respect when in fact it's the opposite. It's just because it's not the same culture.

I like Medvedev and think he handled the situation very well. So sad to see the crowd react this way even tho he did beat Nick! Very sad for the sport and especially the Australian Open. If he said the aussie open was the best tournament and the standard bla bla people love to hear, he would be applauded, but as he pointed out the truth precisely the haters made sure to show their bad manners one more time. Truth's tough and Daniil made a great effort to say it as educated as possible. Bravo!

Awesome guy. It´s easy to forget how incredibly easy is for any of us, even if you´re a mature, middle-aged person, to get triggered by a car honk, or ONE guy saying something stupid to you in the street with only a pair of individuals witnessing the incident. Meanwhile, this guy is just twenty-something, and is there, like a fucking champion, holding his own without losing his honour, wit or charm, against hundreds booing him in front of dozens of millions who are watching the scene via TV. One of the most likeable guys in the ATP .

Super intervju! Medvedev is becoming my favourit player on the ATP tour. Through the time I have seen some nationalities round the world booing the opponent. Why is that? Bad losers or simple they cant enjoy a world class performance beeting the home player. To see Australia going this road sads me. Move the tournament to Sweden instead

Medvedev did not swear with the crowd.He just said they distracted him between the first and second innings. For example in the USA, he really swore with the crowd until the 2019 finals.

He will win them over like he did in the States. I like watching him play he’s unorthodox, Dan Evans and Norrie play different games to most of the others too. Always enjoy watching them play too
