Many of you will have met Doddy by now. He's been a staple in the UK bike industry since he was out of school and old enough to crash a bike! He's been working at GMBN and for 4 years now, and running the show here on GMBN Tech since our channel began. But we've never fully dived into his extensive MTB industry background with a full Meet The Presenter video. So here goes!

Doddy, of all the MTB channels I follow, the work you do at GMBN Tech is the content I most look forward to each week. Your professionalism and depth of knowledge is without peer in the industry and you have selflessly taught me a wealth of bike knowledge, which has helped progress my riding abilities and skills as an amateur mechanic for my small fleet of family bikes. This was so interesting. Doddy is truly one of a kind. It’s inspiring to see someone go where his heart leads, weather the ups and downs, then eventually get rewarded for it. We could all learn a bit from Doddy’s story.

Young Doddy dad looks just like Doddy, even the hair is similar. Went to school with Darren Mabbott, he was mates with my brother and I was best mates with his brother for many years. He was always a bit bike obsessed but I'll whisper this he was a roadie at school. Still remember him and another mate of his going on what I considered mad length rides. I got my first decent bike from the kid he rode with. Great seeing he's doing so well.

I did bike testing with Steve for MBUK in 1990...rode some races with him too. Did not know until now that he is no longer with us. When did he die and how? He was a lovely human.... remember doing one test near Oxford and he was late-very late,when he finally arrived his lateness was due to cycling up from London!!

Pretty cool to get your backstory. I remember you from back in the MBUK days, and valued your opinion back then, right up to today. As a rider, who's had a few breaks from the scene, it's really nice to see so many familiar faces still around and still leading the way, keep at it, Doddy, you're a star.

Totally agree! I’ve found myself watching less of GCN since Jon stopped doing his tech videos. I wish he had a GCN Tech channel like Doddy’s. I know he would be excellent, too. Keep up the good work, Doddy! The tinkerers salute you.

I mostly watch GMBN because of Doddy. He's such an encyclopedia of bike knowledge, everything I know of MTB tech and maintenance is from him. Doddy is my favorite Presenter: he's not a Racer, not a freestyle rider, but just a guy who loves bikes and just loves to ride. Keep up the great work, Doddy!!!🤙🤟👍

I miss the old days of print. I was a hack on the motorbike mags for eight years, the time before digital ripped away the readership - and the ad money! Good times, but nothing lasts forever. More power to your collective elbows Doddy and GMBN and keep up the excellent work.

I remember reading MBUK all the time when I was a young lad (probably between 2008-2012) Doddy had a yellow transition hard tail as a longtermer. I really wanted that bike.

I have been wanting to say for a while that I'm am totally stoked you are on mbgn. I used to be an avid reader/ subscriber of mbuk in the early naughties. I loved your tech articles, I even learned how to lace up wheels thanks to you! I still have the cartoony stickers on my toolbox of you, Ashton and the rest of the team from the magazine. don't ride MTB anymore but really interesting to hear your story Doddy. I grew up reading MBUK, in fact I even remember that cover edition! Thanks for the video, Doddy! I've recently gotten back into mountain biking, and GBMN has been an invaluable resource for me. I really enjoy watching your videos during my downtime. Your story was quite engaging, and it brought back memories of the 90s when I started with MBUK magazines and Mint Sauce. I remember catching your show and with watching you GMBN KZfaq I didn’t realize that was you. I really enjoy watching you’re tech videos even though I don’t have a newer bike. I did work in a shop back in 94-95 and still have my bike from that era. Family kinda slows you down sometimes. But keep up the great videos. I really enjoy them. Thanks!

I’ve not payed any attention to this but as an avid reader of MTBUK when I first started riding. It was the only English language magazine I could get my hands on while living in Madrid. That’s where I first encountered Doddy. My question is what has made Bath the centre of British mountain bike journalism?
