Thanks to put FC Saarbrücken back to the football interest. We suffeted a lot in the past but never gave up hope and stayed true fans. They are part of my home town and wherever i am, i still have a part of my heart there.

Thanks Man, for all the history and putting us back on the map. We were the first geman team who beat Madrid (0:4) ..and we played in the first Champions league cup...and and and. Btw. we played without fans in the last semifinals against Leverkusen- because of Corona. We call it the "stolen semifinal" ..so there is still a bill to pay..💙🖤

Thanks for this nice footage. The history part is pretty accurate. And let me tell you, it is not "easy" being a fan of 1.FCS. So many rollercoaster rides in the history of this club and the special history of Saarland / France / Germany relations reflect in the club as well and that makes it unique. I am living in the states for a few years now, but had always an eye what happens around the Ludwigspark. As a born and raised Saarbrücker, I am amazed how much recognition the club is receiving right now and I truly hope, that the dream will not come to its end next week. Great job and again, thanks! I guess many of the watchers will chime in, when I am yelling: SCHEISS KAISERSLAUTERN And BERLIN, BERLIN! WIR FAHREN NACH BERLIN!

Someone here in the States compared Saarland to Rhode Island here in America. Rhode Island is our smallest state and is always overlooked. But yeah, Saarland and, by proxy, Saarbrucken has such an interesting history, both geo-politically and on the pitch! I was glad I could share your story to people who are also learning about Saarbrucken for the first time. I also have some German ancestral roots in Saarland so definitely will be pulling for you guys!

Well, Saarland is easy to overlook, because, tbh, there is not much there to see. A few culinary things and the coal mining / steel industry history, as well as the forementioned back and forth between Germany and France makes it interesting. Actually, the close French border is even despised vy many, although at least the FCS Ultras implement this spirit ("Virage Est" is the name of the curve) and their long lasting friendship with AS Nancy is very deep-rooted. However, John Doe on the street would rather complain about the "Waggesse" (swear word for french people). Thats sad. But this is about Soccer and for that: VORWÄRTS SAARBRÜCKEN!

Greetings from Saarbrücken. Thank you very much for the video. Your information is correct and very well done. I`ve been a Saarbrücken fan for 52 years. The first time I was 8 years old with my father, and very often in the Ludwigspark stadium. Hopefully we will win again on Tuesday and go to the final match in Berlin. Thank you for the feedback! Such an interesting history with your club that I was glad to be able to share to others. I'm also mostly of German ancestry and a lot of my ancestral roots come from Saarland (mostly Saarland and Baden-Wurttemberg) so I'll definitely be cheering you on!

Thanks for making a video about the love of my life :D I see a lot of Scarfs in the back, do you have a scarf from us? I 100% agree with everything you just said.. I hate that the MLS is trying to screw the Open Cup. As a St. Louis native, the Open Cup is VERY IMPORTANT! I like the Open Cup better than that stupid made for Apple TV Leagues Cup which is artificial. As far as Saarbruken go this is a tremendous run, and the irony of facing FCK is great. The DFB Pokal never disappoints. p.s. Love the Arminia Bielefeld kit.

"The DFB Pokal never disappoints." As I'm learning! Haha! Thanks man. My most recent German ancestor (and the one responsible for my actual last name) hailed from Steinfeld, which is roughly an hour north of Bielefeld. Also, it's Joakim Nilsson's last club before joining STL!

just a slight correction, the Saarland held a referendum to join Germany, it wasn't France who decided to give it back, it was the people living there. Other then that, great video!

Great Video with a interesting historical review to the after-war-time. But im wondering, why Eric Wynalda as one of the first US-Soccer-Stars, who started his german time in Saarbrücken, doesnt appear in your story. However, you did a great job, keep on watching.

great video, just one little sidenote, whenever there's a "1." it translates to "First" not "One" so "1.FC Saarbrücken" would translate to "First FC (Football Club) Saarbrücken"

Thanks for your Video. The next game is coming soon. The Final of the german cup is played everytime in Berlin. So we shout ,,Berlin, Berlin, we're driving to Berlin!" into the stadium. It would be a wonder, to make this dream come true. Driving to the final to Berlin with the hole family would be unforgettable. I have to stop dreaming beacause the tears of joy are running the hole time to early...

Was at the Hannover 96 Vs Fortuna Dusseldorf game on Saturday and the Hamburg Vs Osnabruck game on Sunday. Was with my brother In law who is a massive Rangers supporter. Rangers have ties with Hamburg thought the fans as does Hannover with Hamburg. Hamburg also have ties with Arminia Bielefeld. So was great to meet fans from both clubs. Also keep eye on your cities sports and a certain St Louis Battlehawks.

I have German roots in both Lower Saxony (Steinfeld) as well as Baden-Wurttemberg/Saarland, so on the Steinfeld side, Arminia Bielefeld might be my "local" club in terms of proximity. Also, my club STL CITY SC signed Joakim Nilsson from Bielefeld and he's one of their best players, so there's that connection too lol. KaKaw! Looking forward to the Battlehawks this season as well!
