During the 1930s, fashion was heavily influenced by ancient Greece. In the previous decades, there was an appreciation through patterns such as the meander and the Greek key. But during the 1930s, the couturiers returned to the long evening gowns that transformed their clients into Greek statues. It was under these cultural influences that Madame Grès flourished as an haute couture designer. She refused to speak about her technique and concealed her personal life from the public eye. That earned her the nickname “The Sphinx of Fashion”.❤

I could not blink in case a miss a picture. You cannot find a single design to dislike if you tried really hard! I met two seamstresses in Paris who had worked with Madame Grès for over 15 years. Their fingers were magical and their attention to detail unparalleled. I observed them at work.

I love her dresses. They are works of art, classy, and oh so timeless. There will never be a designer like her, and it's sad that her art failed to receive the attention it deserved.

John Galliano mentioned he was also inspired by the iconic designs of Madame Gres. Hope in the future there will be one great dedigner who can revive her name and house back like Margiela, Schiaparelli and Poiret.💖

Thank you so much for doing this. These clothes were just beautiful, and I don't understand why people end up like that with nobody to take care of d*** about them when they're so wonderful and famous, it happens all the time people is just thrown away. Just look at the movie star so it was just thrown away like veronica.Lake.I I'm the wonderful heading lamar, just thrown away

Fantastic to hear her story & at least she had some recognition during her life, but indeed not enough! But I wish the images were matched up with the narration (e.g. showing what was being described while it was being described).
