I love this so much. I've been wanting to make a DnD journal recently but really didnt know how to go about it but your journal has inspired me so much. I got WAYYY to many characters I have made and have to keep track of and this honestly would be so good for helping me remember all of them and have stuff better organized.

These videos are so fun, and have definitely inspired me to make my own character-based DnD notebook! We're just starting a new campaign, and I'm playing a human Monster Hunter Ranger, and I'm very excited to see where this adventure leads my party! I'd love to see how you take notes and any other fun little tid bits you add to your notebook!

I’m so happy I found your videos! I love setting up character journals, but I’m not sure why I never thought of using 6ring binders instead of bujos! So much easier for adding info and changing stuff around!!!

Seeing the process is extremely helpful. We’re starting a new campaign in the new year and I think I want to get the supplies for everyone for Christmas and make it a group activity. Would love to see an update a few months or so down the road when you have to update and switch things around a bit as your learn and acquire more things. So far as questions about note taking by biggest struggles are knowing what to actually write down (I find I write down a bunch of stuff I don’t need while missing a bunch of stuff I do need) and worrying about or actually missing things while I’m writing. Would very much appreciate some tips and tricks from such an accomplished note-taker such as yourself. 😊

i'm so excited to see a video on dnd notes 👁👁 i'm trying to get into dnd and my 2nd campaign session did not go very well for me unfortunately. i think i was so nervous and unsure of what was going on i freaked out! but i loveeee journaling and taking notes! i think videos like this are really helping me become more comfortable with dnd! also your art is so lovely!!

I understand being nervous 100%!! it can be so easy to get swept up in the mechanics or the story, but I promise it gets easier as you go on! Hopefully my note-taking video will help you as well!

Im glad im not the only one who dedicated a whole page and cheat sheets for regular actions, bonus actions and reactions my character can take. I also have regular equations out for damage rolls if there is a lot of different dice or factors in the attack like if its a attack cantrip+an ability or hunters mark etc. Its super helpful in combat because if i dont have a specific thing i can do i can just default and take less time on my turn so we speed up.

It’s so helpful! Having an equation on hand is also really helpful- I’m learning for my paladin now how many factors there are for her attacks when she has all her buffs up, so I might add that to my combat sheet too- thanks for the tip!

This has been an extreme help for me as I am back playing. I have ordered my book and looking at the other resources you gave. I’m a little confused yet on the character sheets. I know with time it will come together my character is a wood elf cleric background is acolyte my alignment is CG my group leveled up to 3 before the holiday break. I am having a little trouble updating my character sheet.

Thank you! That came from a moment of one player using another player's name instead of the character's name, and as so many d&d jokes do, it quickly scaled off to simply the concept of Jake being canon rather than the person! 😂

I absolutely love this and am actually going to make my own for my first ever campaign coming up. I have two questions, where do you suggest getting stickers from (my pc is a half elf fighter) and what suggestions for you have for a newbie in terms of journal setup?

Well I'm not the owner of this YT-channel but I can recommend Etsy for stickers. The shop owners there often give freebie stickers if you order from them and you can find a ton of different designs. Also, if you have a printer, you can always print them yourselves. Either you design them by yourself or just take designs from the internet and throw them together on a paint canvas. You can find high quality sticker paper on Amazon for 10 bucks

Love the idea of color coding race and class feats! Another cool idea for a character journal I find helpful is to use a clear plastic page over the pages with stats and changing numbers. That way, you can change things as many times as you need for leveling and such without ruining the aesthetic with too much erasing and rewriting.

I’ve seen players do this before and I think it’s such a good idea! Definitely one I have in my back pocket for the future- I don’t mind erasing things as needed personally, but it’s a really smart idea to have the overlay page!

I'm starting my first campaign soon and have an unused mini-binder I've been trying to find something to do with, so I found you at exactly the right time! What is the little green thing you use to affix things to your pages? I would love to see how you take your notes in the moleskine. As a new player, seeing the setup really helps me to know where I might only need little blurbs to fill in numbers or a quick phrase, vs. where I might want more space to write. I'm all kinds of inspired!

The little green thing is a tombow tape runner! Tape runners can be found at most craft stores (wherever scrapbooking stuff is sold) or online!

Thank you- good luck with your binder as well! The brown paper is from Amazon! I just searched for refillable A5 planner paper- the colour is more like a manila envelope than more of a kraft paper, but I still like the vibe of it!

I think writing the character sheets out by hand is the most customizable alternative to a printable that I know of! Ginny Di has some journaling videos as well and I believe she writes out the character sheet pieces by hand, so I would definitely recommend checking out her videos as well! I picked up the printables knowing that I would be reusing them enough to feel like they were worth it, but writing things out by hand is a very reliable and customizable free option. ☺

wizard gals unite!! ✨ Grey was inspired a lot by Emily Axford's wizard in Not Another D&D Podcast and Siobhan Thompson's wizard in Fantasy High, so I am always a fan of a wizard gal!

It is a Tombow tape runner! I've used them from a few different brands throughout the years, and the Tombow ones are some of the nicest I've tried- they are much easier than glue or tape to stick things down!

Grey reminds me ALOT of a character from a mc rp. Her game is geminitay and her normal skin looks EXACTLY like grey. What’s even funnier is that in an smp she was a wizard! I love your journal videos!!

It’s an adhesive runner! I think mine is the brand tombow- it’s essentially double sided tape but very thin and really easy to apply!

Definitely a similar mechanic! In this campaign, the darkness manifests in what feels like little tiny hands tugging at the characters in the dark, which is truly terrifying 😅

It might be, but that’s just how this group tends to refer to it! We had “fanart Fridays” for a bit where the dm would share sketches every week and we call our sessions episodes sometimes as a bit, so it’s all in good fun for our friend group!
