When Sasha said that Poison Ivy wanted to be “Queen of the Underworld”, it took me longer than I’d like to admit, to realise she meant “Queen of the Underworld...of Crime”; not that Ivy wanted to oust Persephone-and maybe marry Hades, as Greek Mythology is where my mind goes, when I hear the anyone talk about the “Underworld”.

Re: Robin's comment about Batman needing a cold shower--there was a "Year One" Annual showing Batman's first post-Crisis encounter(s) with Ivy (a panel of which appears at the end of this video). After first meeting her, Batman goes back to the Batcave and talks about her to Alfred while showering. When Bruce starts rhapsodizing about how beautiful she is, Alfred just goes over to the external shower controls and turns the dial to cold. 😁

Something to do with Miss Green-thumb humiliating them over a tiara, diadem, or some-such. Not sure, it was years ago, and who can remember details from that far back?

The “I’m giving this crown to only the best female villain” seems like a parallel to when in Greek mythos Eris offers the golden apple to the most beautiful goddess and Athena, Hera and Aphrodite fight over it

Amanda K. It would make sense, that the writers are trying to establish a parallel, since Eris causes havoc wherever she goes, so it would be a way to indicate the chaos that Poison Ivy likes to cause

Ah, Poison Ivy is a mutated lady of plants in her genes! I don't know the story of her in the Batman Comic Books. But I remember her from Batman: The Animated Series and Batman And Robin Movie 1997. In the movie of Batman And Robin 1997; she is a Flower Lady (I don't know her name before she become Poison Ivy) working in some lab with a scientists or biologist, who mutated a man with some kind plant drugs to become "Bane". After she saw the scientist or biologist what he did, she didn't like it, and got irate and disappointed. Then scientist or biologist push her to something of drugs with plants. She didn't die but she a got mutated, and become "Poison Ivy". That's all I remember from that movie, when I was 10 in the half and 11 in the half in 1997 and 1998, in my early teens. Poison Ivy from Batman: The Animated Series is my childhood and teenage crush. And still today, also from Batman Animated Movies. She so pretty!!!

According to Batman, Ivy's kisses in later years were composed of cannabis and ergot of rye (an LSD analogue). I suppose this means that the toxins Ivy is immune to include the ones other people take for pleasure. Say, has anyone ever offered Ivy a drink, or expressed surprise at her drinking vodka, and been told she's immune to ethanol?

Now how is this any different than what Ivy has done to character like Superman, Batman, Catwoman ect? Plus forcing a kiss on someone is considered sexual assault. I believe she did the same with Robin at one point which could categorize as inappropriate behaviour with a minor depending on how old Robins was. Also Her pheromones work on men and women by the way.

I always LOVED this issue... just so campy. Plus it was the first Batman comic I'd read with woman villains, which I adored even though it's mostly just a sexist chick fight. I'd love to have seen Tiger Moth, Dragonfly, and Silken Spider escape into other comics of this era. Batman needs more lady villains!

More lady villains who are actually villainous! Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are most commonly antiheroes these days. That's one of the reasons I think Phantasm should appear more often.

This was amusing. Poison Ivy is one of those characters ,with really cool concepts, who's been really poorly characterized over the last 20 years into some bland "antihero"( hate that term). She *can* be written really well, and interesting, but it really does require quality follow up and consistency.

She's too powerful that's the problem she's basically just as OP as Swamp Thing. They can find a way to make Superman work yet when its other characters they end up being such a background character to only solve problems. Basically, if you get hurt Ivy can most likely help, yet that's too easy unless they're gonna go hard into that route.

If they nerfed her a bit, she could be terrifying and well written without the danger of her just sucking Gotham into green oblivion. She started out as a poison/drug expert. If they give her meta plant abilities, it should have a range and an energy requirement. She could play the long game: quietly destroying building foundations by growing roots through things. Or using plant powers to easily grow plants for her poisons and drugs. She could play into ecology trends by making organic plant based foods, makeup, toiletries, cleaning products. Gaining minions who believe her promotion of balcony and roof gardens make up for her targeted murders and damage to Big Corporations. Cult! Cult! Cult!

I wonder if that 'pop' art show was a reference to Andy Warhol's 'Americas most wanted men' which was a show for the 1963 world's fair it was portraits of the hottest male criminals from the FBIs most wanted list. But it was not displayed because of the fear of it's homoerotic overtones (or at least that was the accepted reason, it might be to keep women from being exposed to the hotness of these criminals)

I love that the introductions for most of the famous Batman villains were campy and over the top. Personally I feel Poison is more interesting than Penguin and Riddler, I think she works best as a morally ambiguous character instead of being a straight villain or hero.

I looked up Silken Spider because I'm a sucker for alliteration. It was weird because apparently there was a new Silken Spider on "New Earth" who was a member of the League of Assassins but her write-up is just her role as supporting character in Poison Ivy's origin and nothing about what what the rebooted version did, even though the picture is of the reboot version. dc.fandom.com/wiki/Silken_Spider_(New_Earth)

I believe in that theory that the Joker and Poison Ivy and Joker were an item. I Don't know why, but everytime Joker and Ivy are together in comics and cartoon, it seems there was something there, like they have sex and never speak of it again; they are immune to each other's poisons and for some reason hate each other's guts after Harley appeared.

BRING THE FASHION VILLAINS BACK!! I want to see Dragonfly, Silken Spider, and Tiger Lady as fully fleshed out villains who are doing evil because they want to. Or at least, maybe Dragonfly is lashing out at people she considered to have mistreated her (including just kids or random outsiders who just came to Gotham); Silken Spider doing evils for the lols and lmaos; Tiger Lady doing evil because she needs to raise her two twin brothers after escaping from her abusive household. I want them to be villains! BRING THEM BACK!

A friend and I were just rating different Poison Ivy depictions in animated media (my fave being either The Batman or Harley Quinn, he liked the OG from BAS). We are both equally horrified of the Batman & Robin film look. Ivy is a lot more interesting with plant powers/green skin. I'm glad they're (most depictions anyway) finally updating her Betty Page look after so long, 'cause it's not like Robin's still running around in shorty shorts.

The three female villains were hired by Talia Al Ghul in order to retreive Damian Wayne during the " Return Of Ra's Al Ghul " storyline. They got poisoned by Al Ghul's ninja's, Nightwing gave them an antidote and saved their lives however they were left brain damaged and hospitalized in Arkham Asylum.

One of my buddy's "grails" is Batman 181 w/poster (shame you didn't mention that!) She was probably meant to be young kid cheesecake but "Grew" (get it??) into something much more. Harley is still my Queen, but Ivy has proven her worth over time, along with much better writing.

I appreciate the evolution with Ivy. But I still think she should be a villains. Humans are still destroying the earth after. California fires and the fires in the Amazons are proof. Edit; Robin called Batman big daddy. Oh.....my.....god....😰
