Stirring in the interiors of Rajasthan is a solar power revolution that promises not just clean power but is also empowering women around the world. Meet Sanjeev Bunker Roy, the mastermind behind Barefoot College in Rajasthan, who is training women from around the world to bring affordable and green power to their communities. Set up in Tilonia, Rajasthan the Barefoot College teaches rural women how to fabricate solar panels, lights and photovoltaic circuits. Armed with these new capabilities, these ‘Solar Mamas’ return home to shed light on their communities. Since 2000 over 1700 Solar Mamas have been trained from 96 countries. 1500 villages have been solar electrified and 75,000 houses have benefitted from this programme. #India #Solar #energy #Rajasthan #womenempowerment
