LOL about Lynka! I liked Wheeler and Gi. Wheeler was fun and punky, but Gi had a lot of spunk and courage - hence what was said about her character here.

I miss captain planet! they should make dvds of the original seasons and sell them, I know my kids would want to buy them, right now all they have of captain planet is two old scratchy VHS's my own mom recoreded for me when I was little.

True. I'm big fan of the giant robot shows, I tend to look at things in a different light than from when I was kid, I hold the same opinion for Voltron as I do for Captain Planet but for slightly different reasons.

Fascinating background on character inspiration! Lynka was put in because you need a leggy blonde in there somewhere, heehhee. From Soviet Union then Russia, then Eastern Europe.

Well, that's all fine and dandy of how she was inspired to make the most bland characters in the history of animation. Fortunately Science Ninja Team Gatchaman beat Captain Planet to the punch with the environmental message 20 years prior (1972 to be exact, Charlie!) and actually made a good show, where CP was just annoying.

This show could have been awesome but too often came out as just goofy. First I would remove Captain Planet and just focus on the teen activists. And the show should have a bit more subtlety- like making a pseudo-Hitler villain, and making the rest seem as unrealistic and over the top made them hard to relate to. And should not that be the point? To show that it is no evil entety polluting our world- humans like you and me are? That would make you think more.
