This is a very good initiative for now. But I hope people are aware that recycling all these plastics is not enough because at the end of the day, it is still plastics, and molten plastics will be harder to recycle or some might be unrecyclable next time. We need to reduce our dependency and use of plastics products, and hopefully finally reducing the demand and production of plastic products. Until then, I hope this kind of efforts is spreading wider all around the globe.

Thankyou Malaysian government who give a lot of funding for the project.
@PChan-yt4uf
@PChan-yt4uf Жыл бұрын
If the Malaysian government can give funding to them for this, why can't the government actually make this a focused coordinated effort across the entire supply chain in order to make a real impact - eg. Outlaw single use plastics, force people to segregate their waste, set up good collection points, encourage the recycling industry, do more impactful education programs.
@nursyafiq24

@@PChan-yt4uf they did, you just too focusing on tiktok dancing and instagram stuff to realize about that.
@PChan-yt4uf
@PChan-yt4uf Жыл бұрын
@@nursyafiq24 I know they didn't. Almost every initiative is just half baked, isolated, non-sustaining initiatives which, more often than not, fizzles out after a while. In terms of releasing plastic (by tonnage) into the oceans, Malaysia ranked no. 3 globally, behind Philippines and India and even ahead of China. By simple deduction, Malaysia is the highest plastic polluter of the oceans on a per capita basis. (2021 stats) In terms of plastic waste production, Malaysia stands at No. 6 globally on a per capita basis. (2021 stats) As a plastic polluter, with a population of just 33 million, Malaysia is sure hitting above its own weight. Maybe as a Malaysian, you are proud of being in the top 10 for this. Suggest that you try a bit more tik-tok dancing to stimulate more creative and indepth thinking.

Pretty sure the reason you don't see many locals doing projects like this in countries like this is due to financial reasons. They're the foreigners that have the money and time to do this. The locals barely have enough money to survive. The only thing locals can do are continuing to join beach clean-up, volunteer efforts, etc. They're not doing nothing, just that they don't have the capital to start inventing or creating bigger solutions.
