If the Malaysian government can give funding to them for this, why can't the government actually make this a focused coordinated effort across the entire supply chain in order to make a real impact - eg. Outlaw single use plastics, force people to segregate their waste, set up good collection points, encourage the recycling industry, do more impactful education programs.

Pretty sure the reason you don't see many locals doing projects like this in countries like this is due to financial reasons. They're the foreigners that have the money and time to do this. The locals barely have enough money to survive. The only thing locals can do are continuing to join beach clean-up, volunteer efforts, etc. They're not doing nothing, just that they don't have the capital to start inventing or creating bigger solutions.

Bila ada orang baru pindah rumah mesti ada kotak tv / peti sejuk dibuang ke hutan sebelah rumah saya. Bila ditanya dlm group whatsapp semua tak tahu. Kemungkinan juga kedai menjual barangan elektrik tu yg lepas mereka pasang tv/ peti sejuk tu. Sampah buang ke situ....😭

It's for the same reason english movies have english subtitles. It's accessibility for deaf people or hard of hearing. It also can be beneficial to people who're trying to learn English.
