I went to school in Hampshire in the early 70s he Greenidge was and is my hero him and Barry richards broke every county record. Same team had Andy Roberts, also my coach mr wiseman played for Hampshire and told us about these men

Gordon Greendidge and Desmond Haynes formed the greatest opening partnership in history......followed By Richardson, Richards and Lloyd. If you were bowling first you had to bowl to them. If you were batting first, you had to bat against, Holding, Robert's, Garner and Croft. What a team!!!

Well Viv Richards was actually their no.3 batter for a decade or so I would have rather Greendige & Haynes then Viv at 3...I think this top 3 is itself greatest top 3 of all time...Then Llyod, Kalicharan, Rowe or Gomes at 4,5 & 6 just made that team out of the world.

That’s not true that he wasn’t a much celebrated. After Richards he was the most feared batsmen in a team that was known for its aggressive batting.

Yes sir u are 100% correct. Always people say till 80's which isn't wrong but still it shud be said till mid 90's cuz as u said they didn't loose a test series till 1995 from 1980

Greenidge was one heck of batsman. Greenidge played spin better in my view. His cut put and hook was devastating. Avg of 45 in both versions, oops thats great not very far from Richards.
