Tucked away in a small gym in Beaufort, South Carolina, a young weightlifting phenom trains day in and day out. Considered by many to be the future of USA Weightlifting, CJ Cummings is working to end the U.S.’s 33-year medal drought in men’s weightlifting. He’s broken over 45 weightlifting records in a sport where most men don’t peak until their late 20s or early 30s, and he’s only 16 years old.

He's so good I'm sure he will get all sorts of endorsements and advantages later on in life, being that it's a Olympic sport and he's got his name out there for doing that at such a young age. I'm not a oly lifter but i am into lifting but honestly I wish I wasn't that into that at thatage tbh. I totally love being all in now that I'm older, but I missed out on so many things I should have focused all my energy on how to get degrees in college ; I think it actually was part of the reason why I didn't participate in school like I should have, but what's freakin worse/funny I knew all about lifting, but I knew NOTHING about nutrition which is 80% of it lol! So basically I think I was literally half as big and strong as I could have been,( which is saying a lot)while wasting: time energy money ECT. I was walking around all day without a post work out meal after lifting, big no no, but when I got out of high school and learned about nutrition and post workout meals I freakin blew up in strength and size, now I love it more than ever. I really wish i would have had more knowledge about nutrition , so much wasted time.

What the coach said in the end, I recently started dead-lifting 160KG, then after about 3 sessions, thought I would see if I could do 170KG, I did, and of course, now I'm working on making 170 comfortable (10+ reps) XD, so true, why go back down? Weight 75KG, in case you were wondering and started lifting 8 months ago, from 100KG!

what exactly do weightlifting shoes help with.. just always wondered
@appleeye101ify
@appleeye101ify 3 жыл бұрын
they elevate the heel which lets your knees travel more forward. This helps your torso stay more upright, which is generally makes it easier to get the bar overhead. Try squatting barefoot, then put something underneath your heel.. You'll probably notice its easier to get lower to the floor

Look, I am big weightlifting fan but this comparison is nonsensical. He’s exceptionally strong for a junior but it must be said that the only similarity is their skin colour. Why do you feel the need to make such a comparison? Why can’t the title just be ‘the strongest teenager you’ve never heard of’ or something? Because everyone who likes weightlifting knows that Ilya illin was the strongest teen there has ever been, he was beating masters at 17! Do your research before making videos about niche sports please

OMG you're the epitome of internet weirdo. There's always the one guy that gets too technical and reads too much into the titles and just tries to sound intelligent with his choice of words. Using old ass examples is played out as well. that's like saying well so and so from the 13th century was the all time strongest teen. If he aint from 2015 until now then we don't give a shit who he was. we are talking about today you nobel prize wanna be fuck

Might have something to do with Lebron being labelled as the best up and coming / future greats when he was in highschool (around 16 yo as well). That and the skin colour.

Jarvis Big Hogg Greene lmao Ilya ilin is still competing and not retired. He was CJs age not even 14 years ago. And anyways, as great as CJ is, he’s not near as dominant as several Asian and European weightlifters were at a young age, I mean he only has the CLean and jerk junior world record while there are many people that still own all 3 records for the junior division, ilya being one of them. He is the best America has ever produced but definitely not the best the world has ever seen and there is MANY countries ahead of America in oly weightlifting, so as it stands now while he is one of the greats in the junior age bracket, he is not the GOAT.

Anton Z many lifters put university off for a later time. Strength will eventually fade, and they must make the most if their peak years. World champion, Olympic medalist, these titles can only be earned during a small window of time. If only more university's had weightlifting teams... they have the equipment already. Weightlifting is very safe compared to most ball sports and, other barbell sports, but yes, at the highest level, at the biggest events, the human body can be pushed too far.
