"How hard can it be?". Classic. 😂. Duck eggs are delicious. Be careful with water. Baby ducks can drown, which seems counter intuitive. Consider an electric net for them to keep away the fox. Good luck with you poultry project.

Interesting fact for you. Ducks kept at around 50 per acre can clean a ground of fluke they can eat the parasite carrying slugs and snails with no ill effects. Someone I knew would fatten ducks in a sled house and fence of an acre at a time move them once a week and then follow them with a few store lambs.

22 % chick feed will do for ducks, but ducks need niacin which you can get from feeding them green peas. If they'll eat them as babies be sure to crush the peas. Once they are older and have grit in the crops you can even toss them a cheap bag of frozen green peas a few times a week, and they'll love it. Unless you are free ranging them; then they'll get what they need from grazing, and chasing bugs.

I might have an idea for your duck pen! Great great channel btw. What if you designed your duck run like a crowding tub attached to your duck house. I’m picturing a simple flexible fence wrapped around stakes in the shape of a 3/4 circle, with your duck house in one quadrant. A long hinged gate or fence, the radius of the pen, would be hinged at the center of the circle, and it could sweep within the pen like the arm of a clock and operate like a crowding tub/ pen. I was thinking this could be a fool proof way to herd the ducks into the duck house as needed, but still giving the most grass in a pen with the least amount of fencing. Using a retractable fence or retractable baby gate as the swing gate might be easiest to pull out and around the pen, keeping tension but not flopping around or demanding a specific tub diameter. Extra credit: rig up the swing gate on a radial crop irrigation wheely thing so it could be on a timer to sweep the ducks in at night then let them out. Or don’t. That’s probably $$$$ * I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t fall back asleep , so I imagined aviary designs and this duck pen idea. I.e., This might be overkill. Lol. Thanks for the great videos! Love them all.

Hi Chris and Zoe, we love the ducks, hope there's only one drake and the rest are ducks. We had them for years and there's nothing better then a fresh duck egg!! Keep that .17 by your side 'cos the fox likes ducks too! Malc and Ann Lincs xxx

Take a look at argos (and other places) at the sand and pool for kids. Theyre plastic. We use them for our huskies as cooling pools for them to paddle in and cool off. Theyd be great for your ducklings id imagine and will do adult ducks too. (I think cog hill farm use them for their ducks too) you can get them in shape of apples or just normal round ones. Think we got 2 for £15 something like that. Youll probably need to put a stone in and out for them to easily get in and out of it, but id imagine it would do you great :)

Ducks are messy eaters who like to wet their grains to eat. Those ducklings will outgrow the sides of that crate very fast unless you clip their wings and even then they can still hop out. Best luck and enjoyment though.

Watch out for birds of prey, the ducklings would be better off in a good old fashioned poultry ark you can move daily. We had one with slats in the housing. Perfect for mucky ducks.

That knacker thing seems like a racket. They charge ya? Hard to imagine it is possible for there to be a safer way then hot composting. Set a sheep or cow or whatever in a large pile of some nice wood chips and flip the pile in 30-45 days and there’s nothing recognizable. Doesn’t smell except when you flip the pile. Give it another month or two and it’s something even the fanciest towny gardener would love to have for the flowers or whatever. The knackers went out of business here a long time ago. Most of the agricultural support trades are dead in the states, and so are our rural towns. Y’all seem to have a much more lively agricultural community even if ya get dipshits throwing junk in your field entrances.

The English agriculture laws seem based more on looking after peoples' feelings than on science. The US acgriculture laws seem based more on catering to big ag corporations than on science.
