I personally don't care at all about the overhyped AI "features". What I'd really want is finally a properly usable Windows tablet based on an ARM CPU, thin, without active cooling, with excellent power efficiency and decent battery life.

I'm absolutely with you. Couldn't care less about the AI stuff but I've been waiting for a competitive ARM powered Windows laptop since the Snapdragon 7c laptops came out a few years back but they screwed it up by only putting them in budget laptops. I do believe however, the Surface Pro and the Surface Laptop with ARM chips do have active cooling. Let's at least hope it's only used in full loads.

For camera at top you need more space than the sides. I rather have that inconsistent then adding black space to the sides.

Does ANYONE know what display it is? All it says is that it is a HDR2+ whatever touchscreen, I need to know the refresh rate and the resolution of it. Thanks, Microsoft does not say it anywhere.

Hey MS Surface Team, Most important thing to fix is, those 4 small silicone supports at the bottom, those small supports just tear out in 1st month of purchase of a surface laptop, this make my laptop look cheap even after spending Rs. ~2Lacks for a beautiful looking laptop 😓

@@emanueleluciani99 I see, thanks! Honestly didn't really think to check how WSL fared on previous Windows on ARM devices, as I understood them to be a mixed bag anyhow. The real question is going to be whether Qualcomm's efforts towards day-1 Linux drivers will translate to immediate support for full Linux on these machines (with Box64 when things are really dire), but that didn't seem like a fair question under a Microsoft video...

@@GoldenBeholden I don't know really. But modern qualcom CPUs after the snap 855 should mostly be supported by Linux, if not officially sometimes there are FOSS alternatives like the freedreno driver for the GPU. Although in that case the support won't be immediate

You will have to wait for people to port their software for ARM and by the time everyone is done porting their software, the surface laptop they released would have been old, out of date and discontinued.... I'm still a big fan of arm though, but it's nowhere near as replacing x86 for traditional high-end tasks

Looks like an absolute winner to replace my Surface Laptop 4. That 13.8 screen looks nice and modern, as does the larger+haptic trackpad. I hope that new microphone button at the top can also be used to activate voice search and voice dictation, like it does on my MacBook. I have been waiting for this first real Surface Laptop update since I bought my first generation Laptop which is still running strong on Windows 10 Pro as an extra family device. That Surface Pro 11 looks pretty cool too but $450 for the new detached functionally Flex board is crazy, but based on Apple asking those prices for their new 2024 iPad Pro keyboard, I understand the biz play.

HOPE YOU IMPROVE THE HINGE SYSTEM OF SURFACE LAPTOP. MINE JUST COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM ITS OWN DISPLAY CASE JUST BY DOING DAILY TYPING AND OPEN AND CLOSING THE SCREEN. HOPE YOU DIDN"T USED THE SAME GLUE OR ADHESSIVE THING TO THE HINGE OF THIS LAPTOP. I ENDED UP USING SHOE GLUE JUST TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER, HOPEFULLY WILL LAST LONG.

I was hoping for a Intel Ultra 7 or 9 paired with a Nivdiva 4000 series GPU's but however, Microsoft being Microsoft only made slight changes to their products then charge 2,099+. For this class, price point, and especially in a supposly high end Windows device I do not want a Qualcomm chip there great for Andriod phones or tablet but it's a no on this the only major change is the OLED display option with is Limited to the Surface Pro not the Laptop at this Point get the M4 iPad Pro.
