Meeting Alex Skolnick! Recently when I was in New York I got the huge honor of meeting the legend himself, Alex Skolnick from Testament and I got to hang out with him the whole day! It was truly a very unforgettable experience. He first took me and my family out for lunch and the first time I ever had South Indian food after coming to the USA was treated by Alex Skolnick himself. What a story to tell. After that we went for a walk around New York city where he showed me around the city and then went to the 30th Street Guitar shop. This was a very unique experience since I got to experience a New York style independently owned guitar shop. I met many amazing people here and also bumped into Mike Stern and Pete Thorn. I also got the honor of jamming with him and my favourite part - a special one-on-one mini-concert I got to witness! It was just mind blowing watching his flawless techniques and perfect guitar playing right in front of me. I got even more inspired. He also taught me so many new things and I got to ask him many questions and he patiently taught me everything. The hardest thing this day was saying goodbye to him at the end. We hung out for almost 5 hours that day and he is everything I expected him to be - truly humble, very kind, very supportive and most of all a true Guitar God!
