Before this movie, I believed the "science" the Marianas Trench is way less hospitable than Outer Space. I think Jason Stathen can help humankind immensely, swimming in space, to the moon and back. He's truly next level of human evolution, and perhaps Kryptonian.

Right! ChatGPT, can you rip off Jaws, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, and the Jurassic Park, but somewhat less exciting and fun and not offensive to the Chinese Communist Party… and let's have someone jump the shark too! And keep it running longer than the Fast & Furious franchise.

Generally, the safe limit for recreational diving is considered to be a depth of 40 meters (130 feet). Beyond this depth, the pressure quickly becomes too great for the body to withstand. For every 10 metres (33 feet) a diver descends the weight of the water above them increases by around 8 kilograms (15 lbs) per square inch. Human bone crushes at about 11,159 kg (24,606 lbs) per square inch. This means at around 35.5 km (22+ miles) depth, your bones would instantly shatter and be crushed. However, the pressure at the bottom of the Mariana trench is well over 8 tonnes (or tons) per square inch. Lungs, organs and eyes etc are of course much squishier than bone. The brain is particularly vulnerable to the effects of pressure, usually resulting in permanent brain damage.

I missed the opening scenes, maybe 6-10 mins. I needed to buy a tix and a drink. Then, when I went on my movie house it was in a foreign language. I went out to see if the poster was correct. The staff saw me and looked at my tix. Correct, please go inside, I went and found my seat. I still had chuckles.

I just wish they would just make this franchise rated R and have it be like deep blue sea with gore and blood and they would be good to go. Also less human sub plot

Incorrect. You CAN free dive at pressure as long as you are also at that pressure. It's called saturation diving. Normally, the Abyssal trench would be freezing cold and that would be what kills you, however, they are in a hot zone with volcanic vents, I assume it would be fine.

And, also, when they were in the suits they were still maintaining the pressure of the surface. The rig is at depth pressure.

It has to be equalized pressure as the water around it or it would be crushed already.

What about when they jumped in the orange speed boats. Bad guys use their motor, Megs attack. Good guys are using paddles aft first but then when bad guys are killed, they turn on their motor and Megs are just like....go right ahead and go to Fun Island. We'll just follow the plot armor !

You should read the novels, they're really good, especially the 3 or 4. The books take the idea a lot more seriously, but then again the movies are very little like the books so there is that too.

i hope to god steve alten gets a tv producer to make the books into a series that he has control over with a co director spot and do the books in series to book in 12 - 24 episodes per book since most of the books are 12 hours audiobook converted it would be fucking amazing. the movies are really eh but the books are insanely good

I loved the film, it was dumb fun it was over the tiop it didnt have some bs message any diverse quota. They knew they just wanted to make a film that was entertaining with funny clichets and even easter eggs from the previous film like with the cute doggo. Easily watch this again over most films because it was fun.
