Today we go on an Indian Food Tour in Greater Seattle! Last time we explored the Indian cuisine around Seattle. This time we’re checking out some spots in Issaquah, Kirkland and Bothell. We’re no Indian food experts, but we are food adventurers and I studied each restaurant’s menu and reviews extensively to ensure we order the yummiest dishes :)
We also pick up Indian snacks at a local Indian grocery shop called Maurya (it has a restaurant too!). Then we take a digestive walk at Juanita Beach Park and the Old Market Street Trail. Hope we can travel again to Indian someday soon, but for now we experience Indian food and culture in Washington State. We wish you enjoy this video! For those who’d like to get a preview, scroll down for video chapters and list of featured foods.

What's your favorite Indian food? And what kind of food tours would you like to see around Seattle... and Washington State in general? Let us know! Note: This video was filmed in January and February 2022. It took a little too long to film and edit this video, but I hope it was worth the wait! Thinking to make shorter videos and release them on a weekly basis. Perhaps finally hire an editor and create a series? We'll see :) ▼▼▼ VIDEO DESCRIPTION ▼▼▼ Today we go on an Indian Food Tour in Greater Seattle! Last time we explored the Indian cuisine around Seattle. The mixing of sugar with coffee in the two small metal containers brings back a vivid memory of my childhood while living in the town of Ipoh, in the state of Perak, Malaysia. My next-door neighbor was Indian and had his great-grandmother living with them. Every morning she likes to sit on the porch with her morning drink. She would do that mixing motion. Even as a 10-year-old I would watch in awe how she never spilled any while I can't even pour milk in my cereal bowl without always spilling some.

You and Mommy Oh are so adventurous, despite knowing food is going to be spicy, you focused on the flavours and variety! One thing I have noticed is that indian food there is so expensive! 4$ for 2 pieces of gulab jamun?? Love you both and your content always. Hoping to see more on Sweetandtastytv too. Much Love.

Of course, because salary of cooks, rent of the place, extra overheads are considerably higher in US/UK. But people also earn much keeping high cost factors in mind. In purchasing power parity terms, equivalent of Rs 350 in USA will be Rs 100 in India. So, you can use this scale to assess how expensive any consumer item in USA vis a vis India.

Favorite Indian food has to be the food that our parents prepare in homes, the authenticity of the flavors and taste is hard to be matched by restaurants (at least from my time trying out Indian food restaurants in the US)

0:56 Dum Biryani is made in a giant cauldron so if it’s heavy to hold, it’s authentic 😂 (My favourite kind of Biryani is the Calcutta Biryani which has potato and chicken and btw there’s no such thing as Veg Biryani because Biryani entails a meat based dish) #ThatBiryaniGlow

Veg biryani is popular down south India
@Sonakshi111
@Sonakshi111 2 жыл бұрын
Biryani is a way of cooking. So there definitely exists a veg biryani. Biryani though inspired from Persia has its origins in indian subcontinent. Hence obviously it’s adapted to the Indian palette. Thus veg biryani, paneer biryani, jackfruit biryani all exist. No where does it say that biryani needs to have meat. With that logic samosa which also has its origin in Middle East needs to have meat and thus potato samosa doesn’t exist.

I think you ladies really enjoyed all the food. Some Indian food is above my spice level but some of what you had like the dosa and the chicken dish I would like for sure and probably the rice dish. Your snacks looked really good. When you cut into that Soan Papdi it kind of reminded me of shredded wheat looked similar in texture.

Lol. The joy of smelling fresh bread. In the city I live in there is a bread factory. Some days I can smell when they are baking the bread and other days I can smell when they are baking the sweets cuz of the spice in the air.
