The Model 2 does have stereo sound, its integrated into the mini-din output, where as the Model one only does stereo out of the headphone jack . People do recommend the Model one for its better sound but its only some of the models that say HD graphics around the cartridge port.

I purchased one of those cheap knockoffs awhile ago not realizing it was a knockoff. Fortunately for me, my primary need for a Mega Drive flash cartridge is to load the different CD BIOS to get around Mega CD region lockouts. For that purpose, it does the job.

That small feature you pondered why would anyone want, is something that's fascinate this 38 year old who used remembers thinking back in his teenage years of how epic would it been if SEGA of America had took the SEGA CD product and went complete mainstream. If you thought the Make My Videos were novelty music video games, imagine if there were more of those types of games that throughout the rich music genre of the 90s. Imagine if Nick at Night and SEGA teamed up and produced SEGA CD video games of the classic TV '60s TV shows they were airing in the 90s. I had these thoughts in the late 90s looking back at my SEGA CD seeing potential it had.

Ahh yes. The .bin/.cue issue, can be nasty if you're not looking for it. Had an issue with that on a few old emulators years ago. Again not an issue on most emulators as you said. But can be troublesome if the dev misses it. Also in response to the video playback bonus added in. That's neat now people can watch the latest episode of PlayLoad on the Sega CD.

The videos are BETTER than anything that the Sega CD could do since the CD couldn't transfer data as fast as the SD card. The new Mega Video format is useful for homebrew FMV games, remasters, and stuff like the MSU-1 Remasters on SNES with SD2SNES/FX Pak Pro.

Got mine earlier in the year and can fully recommend it. Couple of temporary issues with audio on some quick save/loads but I can't complain too much. Master system quick saves are an absolute god send. The whole package is totally worth the money. Go for it!

I wish they made a 3D peripheral for 3d Master System games like-WHEN WILL MISSILE DEFENSE 3D BE HARDWARE EMULATED!? Only the Genesis M1 with a MS adapter attached can use the 3D add-on + glasses, which by the way requires the MS card slot. The RetroN 3 in 1 adapter just powers off my Wondermega, which really should not be an issue considering the Mega Drive M1 works with the same device. How? I thought the Wondermega and Mega Drive were very much the same (excluding the CD part).

Been using it on my X'Eye, CD games work from ones I've tested. Audio can be bit different depending on Bios used, use Sega Cd Model 2 Bios

I have an x7 and am perfectly happy with it. Don't really see much of a reason to upgrade to the pro since I only like a handful of Sega CD games.

I'm personally happy with the X7 as i'd rather play Mega-CD games on a real attachment but it's nice to know that playing Mega-CD games is possible on a cartridge only it's just not for me (at this point in time anyway). Obviously burning the games to a CD-R is not the preferred method anymore?

The only model of the Genesis to not support stereo out of the box is the Model 3. However, most Model 2s and the last revision of the Model 1, also known as the VA7, do have poor sound quality. The problem comes down to the sound being muffled and distorted. All "High Definition Graphics" Model 1s have good sound, and the I/O on the back of a non-HDG M1 allows you to tell a VA6.x from a VA7 (VA6.x non-HDG systems have an unpopulated expansion port). Any Genesis 2 with a 3/4 motherboard will have good sound, and you can find that by looking at the bottom of the console. One easy way to test if your Genesis has a proper implementation of stereo sound is to play a Sonic game and collect one ring at a time. The first ring sound will play only on the left channel, and the second will play on the right. Edit: If you're using a PAL or Japanese Mega Drive, you might not find any VA7 Model 1 consoles.

Hey Adam, hope all is good over there. I noticed that your video is posted at 4K. The sad thing is that I've seen 720p videos with cleaner and sharper quality. Just wondering if your capturing at a lower resolution like 720p or 1080p which would make allot of sense. Since your videos don't benefit from that process, I'd recommend just uploading at either 720 or 1080 and do it at a higher bitrate and quality, which would offer your audience a higher quality. Upscaling in your video editor isn't adding any quality. I have super high end computer with and both 1440p 240Hzgaming PC as well as a 4K gaming monitor with 120Hz. I you don't mind the feedback.

I just watched your video again. Yeah, there is a way to get the SegaCD 32x games working, but Krikzz isn't planning on implementing the required adapter. When Terraonion released the original MegaSD, there was a planned adapter for the MegaSD which allows it to connect directly to the expansion port. This circumvents the problem of inserting the MegaSD into the 32x itself, which can't pass Sega CD signals (or Master System for that matter). Of course, you can't play regular genesis or master system games when the MegaSD is connected to the expansion port. The problem is that Terraonion has not released this adapter, and possibly will never do so.

Sunday night with some mega drive news 👍 what could be better

Just saw this news on the excellent retrorgb site. It looks like Mobius Strip Technologies is going to release the expansion adapter for the MegaSD so that you can finally play Sega CD 32X games. It looks like the adapter isn't compatible with the Mega Everdrive Pro.

Had 1 or 2 minor issues with my everdrive (didn't help at first I thought my everdrive was wonky) ended up was my mega drive I bought from the store and who I bought it from we didn't see eye to eye at first but we worked it all out. I got a replacement mega drive fixed a few memory card issues I had and wow this bad boy is amazing! very recommended if you have a mega drive/genesis get one ;)

Regarding the BIN/CUE thing. Just because you can fully rip a CD into an ISO or a BIN/CUE, doesn't necessarily mean all the data has been ripped correctly. Which is why the Redump database exists. Your disc might have been damaged throughout the years, or there might have been issues with your CD drive's laser or whatnot. If you want to be 100% sure that your files are 100% correct, you either have to compare your own rips to Redump... or it's actually more convenient to look for Redump rips on the "high seas", even if you legally own the game.

Adam, it is possible to get full Mega Everdrive Pro Sega CD support working on a Genesis 3 and make it basically as good as a model 1 (sans the expansion port), This also holds true for the MegaSD. If you have a VA1 Genesis 3, this is achieved by doing simple restoration mods (adding back Master System, Game Genie, Virtua Racing, and 32x support) and then installing a Sega Genesis/Megadrive Triple Bypass board, which has the additional benefit of providing the best video and stereo audio quality. It may well work on your other devices as well which don't have a built-in CD, but I purchased a Triple Bypass board specifically for my Genesis 3 (still need to install it though)

Its awesome. Expensive, but well worth it.

I have 4 retro consoles PS2/Wii/GC/Xbox x 2 dont know were to go from here I missed 90% games on PS2/GC/Xbox that is why I started there. Once you get to certain generation emulation starts to make since especially with all the arcade ports on SEGA & SNES. I'd much rather play those games as arcade instead of 16bit port. Might just do handheld's for PS1 & older Handhelds are getting really nice with 7" IPS screens, premium controllers built into them & 8 to 16 cores processors..... FMV games are funny as hell Id love to go back intime & be present at CEO meeting were they OKd them.

I wish that I watched this before spending almost $300 on the Pro. I was hoping to be able to play SMS games on my Nomad. I can still play Sega CD games, but as you mentioned the music is missing. its a little bit wired that I can play NES games on my Nomad, but not SMS? For some reason the full list of NES games wont show up. it ends in the M's for some reason even though I have games like Zelda on the card? I do not get audio on for NES on my Nomad, but i do on my X'Eye. It would be nice to get music supported on the Nomad. This and master system game support was the reason that I bought the Pro. I really do not want to dig out my model one or two Genesis for SMS when i have both the Nomad and X'Eye already handy. Anyway good info Adam, at least I now know why things aren't working correctly.

Are there any notable differences between this & the Mega SD? Features?

I got the Retrotink 2X during black Friday and I like it. However , even though S Video, the N64 looks kind of bad, especially through my 4K TV. My SNES looks fine though S Video. I don't know if I just need a better S Video Cable or if I should just get my N64 RGB nodded and get the Retrovision Component Cables. Any idea?

What would be nice is if there was some sort of ODE which simply let existing MCD owners play ISOs without emulating he hardware. Would be quite a waste to have an MCD laying around doing nothing (and it might have been cheaper than the Everdrive and MegaSD 's current prices)

Did I understand correctly that you can’t run the sega cd console with this cart plugged in? I have the X5 and it works no problem, it would be strange for the more expensive version not to. I was thinking of buying the pro and selling the x5 but this would be a deal breaker for me since I have a bunch of sega cd discs that I still use. And no I don’t have a 32x attached so I don’t know if that makes a difference.

Model 2's had Stereo support. They had a Stereo AV Cable for it. The Model 3 is what doesn't support Stereo at all.

Great video like always. Very cool product I would use as a rental service. So I could try and buy the games bc I like to play original games. But would be cool bc alot of genesis games I am not sure if it good or not. Like I just got toys and it was a good price and cheap so I got it. But it was a blind buy.
