Instead of a Mega Bisharp, what if it was a branching evolution? One that fully leans into its honorable side, to the point of it being called chivalry. Its name could be Chivalrook, to still have a chess-related name. It could have 550 BST like Kingambit, but have more defense-focused stats

I can't say that this will ever happen. HOWEVER! I can imagine AZ having a Kingambit just to test your "true royal calling". By the way, his actual title could be King Ajedrez, in my opinion. Adrejez is Spanish for "chess" and Kingambit resembles the King piece, which is the most valuable piece throughout the game. It's also the only piece [apart from pawns] that can't move more than one tile at a time.

there's some official information online that points out that they aren't actually based on chess, it's just that it's a good localization for the English names, but hey they could always change directions

What…nothing about their design or original name has anything to do with chess pieces? The line is based on samurai, and to an extent shogi, Pawniards original name Komotana is a combination of Koma (a shogi piece) and katana, bisharps name Kirikizan is a combination of the words to mince and to cut, Kingambits Dodogezan combines the words great, to cut and to kneel on the ground as you know its based on a shogun who you bow in the presence of, Pawniard I guess has some name inspiration to another board game but the other 2 are just purely based on samurai and cutting, the chess references are purely a localisation thing hence why it’s only in the English names for the mons,

U see the king's gambit opening in chess is where u gambit a pawn or a pawniard in this case to have a good position and gain an advantage eventually but the queens gambit is more instant attack oriented and more of a direct offensive play than not

I think, his theory that xerneas and yveltal’s energy is the same as mega stones is confirmed, if you play through pokemon x and y, theres a piece of dialogue that happens when you beat the elite four and become Champion, plus defeat serena so she tells you to talk to sycamore, which then leads you to anistar, and he briefly talks abt the theory he has made, and the first part of his theory was literally “my theory is that xerneus/yveltal’s energy is the same as mega stones after they were used in the ultimate weapon 3,000 years ago” essentially ttar’s theory was already a theory in game but no one really noticed, i noticed it since i was playing pokemon y again and i was just tryna start the Looker quests, when i read that dialogue i had to say something Edit: if its a theory in game, ig its canon already, but im not 100% sure

I hope kingambit in za gets a stronger female evo like the queen piece in chess. Queengambit also fits for the naming as the queen gambit is a chess move like kings gambit. I think it is also an alternative to the French defense(chess move) which is another interesting plot that could be looked into in the game. Like the castle can be going through the revolution and the revolutionists could have the king and queen gambit line to take over.

Imagine an army with a myriad of Kingambit commanders. A ‘King’ for each group/regiment. Each of them sacrificing loads of Pawniards and Bisharps, feigning surrender and then destroying thousands in a single stroke. Explains in part how the war that led AZ to build the ultimate weapon caused such savage destruction. The battles would have racked up tens of thousands of casualties in no time at all… That evolution line has some seriously dark lore.

what if gambit got the ursaluna treatment and got a new version that you cant evolve into (they share many similarities so its not that odd) and make a Kingambit that is a static enconter and he regretted the path he took and now want to be honorable again, this one would get 545 BST (the opposite of bloodmoon) but would be fast and strong with low bulk

I honestly like the idea of non fully evolved Pokémon getting Megas. That way, you have a reason to keep an early form around but also not have it step on the toes of the final Evo. For example: A lot of people tend to not like Rhyperior so give Rhydon a Mega! Alternatively: Steelix has a Mega that focuses on improving its defenses, so that leaves room a proper Evo that can focus on offenses or speed!

It's funny because pawniard and alot of other pokemon in the game, I had no interest in raising and training.. But with a new game series, and also the introduction of a King Gambit. I became more aware of becoming a master. Thus I will start training different pokemon and see how they actually battle.. I think alot of pkm trainers have a certain amount of pokemon they raise, that fits them.. Pawniard is definitely not 1 of mine..

Kingambit is not getting a mega evolution. None of the gen 9 pokemon is getting a mega evolution. No pokemon with 500 base stat total and more should get a mega.
