I'm not sure but he may be recording directly from Deflemask or Furnace tracker disabling "Ladder Effect" or using one of those golden Sega Genesis with good filtering. @@MartinAlejandroLiguori Thanks for the insight, yeah the vocal samples do sound nice and clean on your track too guess the vst i was using was a bit too agressive downsampling the drum samples. It seems like most of the vst's don't output .vgm for hardware playback so I guess ill have to try deflemask proper.

Yes, this song uses all channels almost all the time, so some instruments will get cut off when an sfx is played. Other than that, it is possible to use this song on a game as it is. We cannot see how the song is written here, but with the correct pattern repetition for each channel to make the song light it is possible to use this song on a real game, those samples sound like they may use some space, but you can use the same samples for all the other songs too.

@@HP-qq3nn yes i know, and I can see that you made this comment without knowing anything about the hardware... this is why people need to understand that making music for real hardware is important and it cannot be faked with midi. PSG3 is one of the channels that uses the sound chip also used on the sega master system, this chip has many limitations and one of those limitations is that you cannot use the third channel while the fourth one is been used as a noise channel. That's why Savage is not using it, he can't....well.. he can, but it will break the noise on channel four if he does... so he has to keep channel 3 free. That means that you cannot use this channel for sfx while the song is been played, or if you do it, you need to know that channel 4 will be modified by it.

@@MartinAlejandroLiguori Interesting. For some reason I thought that PSG3 only needed to be silent when the noise channel was in periodic mode.

@@RT55J yes, you can use it, i made some songs with it, but like you said it's another mode that will cripple the ability to produce noise in any frequency. You can also use it when the noise channel is silent, if you have the space between your noise notes.

The original sounds really boring after hearing this version

Megaman 2 through 4 had the best music of the games until 9 and beyond came around. They're still really strong soundtracks, though.

@@dragonmangames2523 I was about to pop in and say just that. Everyone goes on about Wily Castle Stage 1 from Mega Man 2 but there were some real contenders in 3 and 4.

Yes and no... you can recreate the song to sound the same but you do not have the master system chip and no ladder effect... so it will always sound a little more clean. You also have more channels on that chip and you cannot reproduce samples... you need another chip to do that.

@@MartinAlejandroLiguori It can be paired with PCM no? I always liked FM Synth but not as much as I do today to the point of knowing chip names and what machine used them, and channels like this one are just godly.

@@xGMV yes it can be paired with another pcm chip, sega for example used sega pcm.
