Very very important setting for the XB41. Select extra bass. Eq: Treble full +10 Mid +5 Bass centre 0. I have all 3. For low level listening, the xb41 is the best. Awesome bass for low level. For high volume the xtreme 2 sounds the best. For throwing into the rubbish bin the megaboom 3 is the best.

In my opinion, I don’t think this was a fair bass test. You shouldn’t have even brought the mega boom into this. The mega boom sound is meant to bring out the real sounds of the song and how it’s supposed to sound. I’m talking no artificial bass or other sounds. It has pretty good bass when you turn it up using the app for this type of speaker (which isn’t meant for only bass but for amazing sound quality) other speakers who are bass only do not bring as much sound quality or loudness. If you bring the mega boom outside, it may sound quiet when you’re close to it but it can travel very far. More than 50 meters. If you want bass only, don’t get a mega boom. Get an ihome or Sony. If you want some of everything with good sound quality and decent bass, get the mega boom. For me, megaboom is my pick. As it brings enough bass but also amazing sound quality.

The megaboom 3 has more of a rich sound & bass wise. The Other two speaker has there own sound. Hands up for the megaboom 3 🙌

JBL definitely has bass, not sure what you're talking about. The Megaboom has a booster bass curve around 120Hz but tapers off below that. The JBL easily extends down to 60Hz and sounds more defined. It's not surprising. The UE products are primary made for outdoors so they don't aim for deep bass. They aim for louder bass and overall presence.

The original megaboom actually does have on speaker controls for playing, pausing and skipping music. Try picking it up and tapping the top! Nice video

Thanks for that... I reviewed the old Megaboom in late 2015 before the Block Party update (no tap controls) but obviously this change has escaped me. I've edited the video to reflect that.

Don't you find it weird that you have the Sony and JLB speakers facing away from you? The megaboom is the only speaker that projects 360 sound.

They are mad because the ue is louder and sounds better than the extreme 2 😂 I have the ue and it’s a really good speaker and it gets really loud I just bought the Sony xb41 for the loudness and the bass yes the ue sounds better but the xb41 is louder and has more bass

Bro, what would happen if you went into the UE app and adjusted the bass? UE had to place the bass setting in a space to allow a standard to "hip hop" type of balance.

The bass would be louder and boomier but only slightly. I think UE is conscious about keeping the mids and highs as clear as possible even with loud bass.

Ue megaboom 3 wins... unfair? Even if he speaks while testing.. you can hear it clearly, the clarity of sounds dont lie... i own megaboom and it delivers good music to my ears about 3yrs now.. still no issue... still got 4% deccrease in battery in 1hr in mid volume... worthbuying.. gonna buy megaboom 3 soon and pair them up with my megaboom..

Your smart aren't ya. The megaboom 3 isnt even 2 years old yet. You havnt heard the xtreme 2 in real life I see. There has also been a software update shortly after this video was uploaded. I've heard both. The bass, isn't even comparable, the mids are good on both, and the treble is cleaner on the xtreme 2. The Xtreme 2 is rated lower battery life, but it actually lasts much longer. I use my xtreme 2 atleast 3 times a week and I haven't charged it in a few months. I want you to search "DLX Willington Xtreme 2 vs Ue Megaboom 3". You tell me who wins. Actually search "JBL Charge 4 Vs Ue Megaboom 3". Even the smaller and less expensive charge 4 outclassed the megaboom 3.

The JBL Xtreme 2 sounds muffled compared to the UE Megaboom 3. Even though we only had it at the one volume level of 50%. I agree with your results: the Sony does have a much, much deeper bass. I would like to know if the Sony & the JBL have an EQ on the app & how effective is that EQ?

Mario B megaboom compresses, basically sounds shit at maximum. The xb41 is 1 db louder than the Xtreme 2, but sounds horrible as they just push treble. The Xtreme 2 keeps more bass at maximum

I noticed that the JBL Xtreme 2 also has more detailed highs above 8Khz, which doesn't surprise me as it uses the same dome tweeters from the JBL BoomBox and Harman/Kardon speakers. My only complaint is they have tuned the bass to be more overpowering than the rest of the spectrum, I wish you could tune the EQ on it.

The JBL sounds larger than most other big brand speakers but that is because it’s simply larger. I found the JBL to sound large in bass and soundscape but it has little character unlike the megaboom 1 or the 3. Same goes for the Sony xb41, which has harder bass but again has no character anywhere else. There is a whole world of sound besides bass in music that makes you feel a certain way. Unfortunately you need to get something a lot larger and expensive to provide everything. I listened to the Sonos play 5 today and it noticed a subtle grin on my face as the whole sound spectrum was amplified substantially.

if you need to fix the megaboom 3 since in my case I use it with an android and when I use it at maximum volume and it is at 50% then it drops at 16%, and I always check it in the application

Andres Garcia xtreme 2, as it has a natural flat sound and deep bass, UE compresses at high volumes (volume gets lower when there is bass), sounds unnatural and muffled.

@@jblbasstester6198 all these speakers produce mediocre sound production and will never give you a "natural flat sound". The xtreme 2 sounds extremely boring and lacks any dynamics. This is why I loved the extreme 1 due to its clear boost in mid base to overcome its mediocre divers.

robob221 uum no. Just look at some frequency response measurements. The Xtreme 2 has a flat sound and doesnt lack mids. It sounds like a hi-fi speaker, just not as defined. And the Xtreme 1 is not very good for indoors, as it has bad treble definition and has this 77hz bass boost. For outdoors it is good though

@@jblbasstester6198 you have no idea what hifi sounds like if you refer to a mass production bluetooth speaker called "JLB EXTREME" as hifi sound. For the size of the JLB extreme 2 it produces lackluster bass response and distant vocal performance (I owned one). This is simply the flaw in portable battery powered speakers. Big bluetooth companies use cheap drivers to make a profit and on top of it all they can't push the maximum power limit of the speakers so reproduction of the hardware is bottlenecked. Batteries are what bottlenecks the amps necessary for maximum quality . This pertains to everyone else in the business making bluetooth speakers. Actually listen to an optimized hifi system with more than 1 speaker and you will have a reasonable baseline for what "dynamic" sounds like. To many people have no idea what they are actually NOT hearing in there music because they dont understand the costs/steps involved in reproducing maximum transparency from your music source (KZfaq or Soundcloud don't count because they severely compress). You think you know what good sound is? Think again. It take years of experience, just like everything else in life.

robob221 oh man... do you really think im saying its the best sounding bluetooth speaker? At least it seems like it. I compared it to a Vifa Helsinki which sounds very Hi-Fi. The Xtreme 2 is of course worse with treble response, but bass is similar in terms of deepness. The Xtreme 2 doesnt really have a flat bass response, but that is common for bluetooth speakers, even the Vifa boosts it.
