Last year when I first reviewed the UE Megablast I didn’t like it at all. But then when I resisted the Megablast 8 months later thanks to some software updates and new features, I liked it a little more even though it still had its problems. But now that we have the Boom 3 and Megaboom 3… I actually really like both of these speakers. I feel the Megaboom 3 is so good, it can actually keep up with the big boys like the Sony XB41 and JBL Xtreme 2.

Thanks for the video, very interesting! I have a question; a friend of mine introduced me to the Boom 3, she has one, and we've enjoyed a few spontaneous hallway dance parties with that thing - it's so easy to hold and dance at the same time! It seems that the Megaboom 3 has better sound quality but... would you say that it's too large to comfortably and easily hold in your hand while you're having a boogie?

Megaboom 3, Soundlink Revolve Plus or XB41?I need a loud speaker but I want a more neutral and balanced sound. I care for a speaker that reproduces my music accurately. I was heavily considering the XB41 but the extra bass mode sounds awful. For this reason I was considering the Boss Soundlink Revolve Plus because it’s a balanced sound, but I don’t know if that’s as loud.

I have the Revolve Plus and its a beast. Def expensive but you get what you pay for. I have a JBL Charge 4 and thats my go-to outdoor speaker. I cant speak for the Xtreme but if you put the Revolve in a corner it will power your entire living room with ease

I have compared the bose soundlink revolve plus to my charge 3 loudness wise they are the same the bose has more deeper strong bass, but my new jbl xtreme 2 blows them all away its as loud to my edifier R1280DB hahaha

I did consider the JBL Extreme but I think it's way too large for my liking to transport. So that's why I didn't write about it in the first comment. So to exclude the JBL Extreme, the best option is the Bose Revolve Plus then? The new Megaboom looks great too though, but the bass seems overpowering for me (like I said I want a neutral sound signature, but I might be wrong because I can't experience it for myself), and the Charge 3 and 4 aren't as loud as the Revolve Plus if I'm correct? Seems like the Bose but damn is it expensive.

I don't have the charge 4 but its slightly larger than the charge 3,,the revolve plus also have empowering bass because it shoots downward which only have 1 driver,,price wise i suggest charge 3 or charge 4, but you can always use an equalizer for all these speakers and tweak to your taste

2019 I went for boom 3 because of the stereo pairing and the charging base. Sony pair, yes , but you can control the volume of 1 speaker only

bluetooth connection degrades the quality of music no matter what. it can improve if the speaker support aptx or aptx HD bluetooth but other than that wired connection still have best audio quality.

Depends which smartphone you use. If you have Apple smartphone it will be amazing the experience. The other flagship is Huawei because has one of the best Dac in the world. Samsung well is good enough that I have but compare Apple or Huawei this are better one.

you are probably right and further I DONT WANT TO GET THE MUSIC OFF THE IPHONE IF IM USING THIS AS MY DESKTOP SPEAKER.. THIS HAS GREAT SOUND WHICH IS WHY I CHOSE IT I NEVER EXPECTED I COULDNT USE THE APP TO ADJUST BASS OR TREBLE WITHOUT STREAMING THE MUSIC THROUGH THE PHONE! AWFUL!

Mistake! The Boom 3's won't play video properly. I was told by their rep that it's right in the manual. My 2's certainly won't when they're doubled up, but single is usually OK. Audio/Video out of sync!

The first mega room that I have and I just bought the new Sony yesterday at Best buy my megaboom at T-Mobile the first one I paid 299 for it came out to 300 that was with taxthe review I like you review it's awesome you're awesome cool and I want the megaboom 3 eventually but they may come out the fourth one

I think one of the reason is why the mega boom 3 & boom might lack some what outside is the way people have them if you position in a way where the volume buttons are one the side you might sound better out side when you have the volume buttons facing you you are getting a somewhat different sound has with the JBL there sound is right in your face but I still say The JBL Speakers Bass is better Changing the Position of The Mega Boom & Boom 3 might change some people opinion on how They sound out side

Im gonna be honest i have all the megaboom speakers but i just bought a xtreme and it sounds better than all of them and it fits in a backpack easy but i pair up the ue speakers and they get loud but the bass isnt as punchy as the xtreme

The bass on the UE's is grainy and artificially inflated. They add harmonic distortion to give the sense of lower bass that isn't actually there. Hence why you might be able to hear the low bass in a dance song but not feel it the same way. It's a trick that some laptops use to give the image of better bass. But it adds coloration and distorts the bass waveforms. Fine for an outdoor speaker that fits in a bike drink holder, but since there are now so many options it just doesn't cut it. When I got the Charge 5 after having a Boom 3 it was night and day. I thought my UE speaker was broken, but the guy said it was functioning as normal. Turns out that's how they all sound. Perhaps they're pushing the DSP too hard. I don't know. But yeah. They're loud but that's it.

Dude. You have been fooled. Sound is subjective but I know distortion when I hear it. Instead of tuning their radiators to a lower frequency,, they decided to artificially inflate the upper bass and add a form of psycho-acoustic bass enhancement that adds upper harmonics to low notes to fake lower bass (basically distortion), so the low bass notes are there but they sound processed and artificial. To me those techniques just add total harmonic distortion and don't sound natural at all, you can especially hear it towards the end of the demonstration (surely you notice this? ). The JBL doesn't rely on any audio illusions to reach low which is why it feels more weighty, and natural.

If you like bass jbl is for you if you want a lightweight portable speaker mega boom 3 is your friend if you want sound quality the xtreme 2 is the most clear and if you want a muffled speaker that will probably die in 6 months because Sony doesn’t doesn’t build there products very well the xb41 is for you

Woofer World not true at all, I have both the Sony xb41 the megaboom 3, and a friend with the jbl xtreme, my plan was to sell the xb41 but now after hearing it, it’s still far superior to both, it’s very clear, the bass is awesome, imo better then the xtreme 2 and it is still working perfectly fine and I’ve had it for 5 months, I will be returning the megaboom 3 hopefully this week, it’s not bad at all, battery is awesome, but imo xb41 is the whole package, plus the lights look pretty cool lmao

Are you an idiot sony is by far my favourite both in audio quality and loudness. I own thr xb41 and the xb31 and i can safely confirm that thry are the preetiest most durable and best sounding speakers. Personally i hate the treble that jbl has being able to adjust your audio with the eq on sony is just amazing.btw you saying that if you like bass go to jbl, is that a joke😂

You can the ue megaboom 3 is almost as loud as a xtreme 2 and its 360 thats one advantage i have the xtreme 2 but im soon buying the megaboom 4 cause of the size and 360 so it fits in my bag of course it has worse bass audio quality but i dont care about that outdoors

His reviews aren't the best. Look at other comparisons. Many more people offer a better perspective. Listen to that distortion on the UE. That's not the camera mic, that's what they sound like on anything above 30%. There's something funky with how UE processes the audio. Some people like artificial sound that isn't true to form but I prefer cleaner bass as someone who enjoys the intricacies of music (I have a headphone/speaker obsession). Bose do a similar thing with their old Soundlink. Kick drums just don't sound right. Particularly 808s.

@@frankyb5064 If you enjoy the sound I think that is good, and there are other positives like the features in the app etc, but as someone who listens to hip hop I think you would appreciate the bigger impact of real sub-100Hz bass that you not only hear. The difference between JBL and UE for me is like having a stock stereo in a car and adding a small 10" sub for a more substantial bass. Thats really the only way I can put it. Either way, I'm more about sound, and currently the JBL speakers do the best job recreating larger speaker systems without spending a larger amount. I'm also far from a JBL fan. I don't own any of their headphones or PA speakers. However, their bluetooth speakers? 👌👌👌 . I wish they could tune their pro speakers the same way lol.

My Bose Revolve outperformed the UE Megaboom I purchased when it came to bass response. The Bose reproduced frequencies starting at around 55-60Hz. The UE reproduced frequencies past 60Hz, but it was half as loud as the Revolve close to full volume. The stupid thing was twice the size of the Revolve, but could only produce half of the bass. Granted, they did equal out in volume eventually, but it was only around 90-100Hz before that happened. I expect the Revolve Plus to be even more capable than the Revolve, which should outperform the UE speaker line up by a mile in terms of low end response alone. The Bose sounds so much more balanced because the bass actually has some presence, and it doesn’t have dead zones when you use it outside. Seriously recommend Bose, you won’t regret it

They aren't quite for the same use; try and droptest your bose to see if it still works perfectly (I droped my ue boom 1 down a rocky mountain by accident twice (2 years apart), and it still works :) )

I have the boom 3 and I'm happy with it. I got it a month after it came out. Its not worth $150 but if it was $110 it would be a better deal.
