You should not be so rude on "another band". They have a name. I am not a metalhead, but I must admit that Metallica has better songs. Yes, Megadeth are better musicians. But is not so catchy as "Tallica. The weakest part of Megadeth is Mustaine's voice. Its not good. I asked many people (not metalheads), about his voice, and almost all of them agree the voice is the weakest part. I am only objective, no hard feelings. Regarding Rust in peace, yeah, one of the metal albums of all time for sure. What I dont like about Metallica is that every their album sounds different. Like 10 albums, 10 different bands. They dont have their own style. All the time skipping from one genre to another. And yes, death magnetic is terrible album. Production is garbage. Riffs boring and dont sound thrashy at all. I dont know what happened to them but from year of 2000, they are not able to make decent album. Failure over failure.
@metallicaandjustice13 жыл бұрын
@@miroslavkozik987 I like both but if you put a gun to my head I'd have to say I prefer Metallica. primarily for individual songs. I definitely think Rust in Peace is one of the best thrash metal albums of all time but songs like One, Master Of Puppets, Orion, ...And Justice For all, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Fade to Black, Harester of Sorrow and For whom the bell tolls clinch it. It's an odd one because Megadeth are for the most pat more technical than Metallica and I usually prefer that but Metallica have a kind of epicness to them that Megadeth don't have imo and I much prefer James' Vocals. Although for the 90s material onwards i'd much rather listen to Megadeth. The Black album is pretty decent but countdown to extinction is a better album, the best thing Metallica did in the 90s was S&M but Load and Reload were patchy at best; the 00s were pretty forgettable and the 2010s were pretty average and I am not the biggest fan of Megadeths post 2010 work either.

Rust In Peace, Peace Sells and Killing Is My Business is the holy trinity of Megadeth for me. The first two are no surprise, but KIMB really hits the spot for me, something about how raw, pissed off it sounds and the crazy-ass compositions that Megadeth never touched again (and at this point I'm sure they can't keep up anymore). To me several riffs in KIMB are harder than any riff or solo from RIP or PS, and that's just fucking insane when you think of it. That album was perfect for it's time with bands like Killswitch Engage, or A7X, in the mainstream metal scene at the time. I was more into Shadows Fall, Children of Bodom, and such. It just seemed to fit right in the times. Didn't feel like an older band trying to stay relevant.

For my money it’s gotta be Peace Sells. I think the lineup with Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson was their best, imo.

As much as I love Megadeth, I love Dokken more personally! Like you said, I can like both heavy metal and glam metal! The reason I got into Dokken is because of you! Thank you for introducing me to Dokken! I love them to death! George Lynch is a beast! Dave Mustaine's awesome too though!

I'm 36, and got into Megadeth 20 years ago (damn!) in 2004. Age 16, first job was Burger King (I hated it LOL), and I bought every Megadeth CD in the discography and became obsessed. I saw them on the 2005 Gigantour, and got to meet Dave and the band (a quick meet and greet line with autographs, etc). Rust in Peace is hands down my favorite Megadeth and thrash metal record of all time. Same page as you; Tornado of Souls solo is the pinnacle! There isn't a single bad or flawed moment on the entire record. It's truly one of the very, VERY few metal albums that isn't overrated IMHO. It's ALSO wild to think when I got The System Has Failed back in high school, that was halfway through Dave's present career. I always forget he took the band from 1983 to 2002, then took a break until 2004. Great analysis, love hearing your nostalgia for Megadeth!

Great list, funny I mentioned Countdown on your top 50 thrash album video knowing your top 2 Megadeth but wasnt sure of your #3 until I watched this, we are on the same page.

Great list man i LOVE how high you put Endgame.....its sorely underrated. Abominations not as good for me, but Washington is Next almost single handedly makes it a great album anyhow.

Great job Bryce! I have tried to listen to more of Megadeth's catalog cause I really stopped listening to them after Cryptic Writings. I thought other than Secret Place and She Wolf the album was sub-par. So I just pretty much stopped listening to them. But after watching most of this video, I think I will give them another chance and listen to all their albums.

Great picks like that you give the later albums a lot of love. My favorite album as well love most of the stuff. Supercollider is the only album I don't like at all whereas risk has some terrible and some good stuff. Also a shoutout to the hidden treasures, it was the first thing I had heard by them along with the greatest hits. One of the best eps in metal history. Go to hell has one of my favorite solos. 1. Rust in peace 2. Countdown to extinction 3. Youthanasia 4. Peace sells... 5. United abominations 6. So far so good so what 7. Killing is my business 8. Cryptic writings 9. The world needs a hero 10. The system has failed 11. Dystopia 12. Endgame 13. Thirteen 14. Risk 15. Supercollider

I played guitar for Chuck Mosley from late 2016 up until his death. And we were under Dave Ellefson’s record label. Had the opportunity to go to a Megadeth show in Cleveland and go backstage, and meet both Dave Ellefson and Dave Mustaine. Actually ran into ellefson a couple times with chuck, one of the nicest guys I ever met. Dave Mustaine though, he walked up to me, stopped about 5 feet away and plugged a single nostril and blew a snot rocket and said Hey. Lol that was absolute coolest way to meet Mustaine.

I saw a very post on Facebook of Megadeth. It's a parody of Megadeth singing pop punk. They were called Megafriends. They sing pop punk songs in the style of Megadeth's music, which is hilarious. I actually put Yellowcard over Megadeth for my top bands of all time because Ocean Avenue is one of my favorite rock albums of all time! And their music just means a lot to me. I love Megadeth as well. I'm just obsessed with other rock, punk, and metal bands. Gotta give respect to the other bands that were around longer before Megadeth and I can talk anything rock, punk and metal all day if I could. Rock on, man.

Another name for this band can basically be the Dave Mustaine band, but Megadeth is better for marketing purposes

I mean not really. If it wasn't for Chris and Gar Megadeth would never have been as good as they ended up being, in my opinion. Playing with musicians like that really makes you bring out your A game. Same goes for Friedman and Menza

Glad to see love for the more recent albums. Of course I love the classic albums the most but to me Megadeth never fell off. They have a few bumps in the road, like any band that's been around for 35+ years. 1. Peace Sells 2. Rust in Peace 3. Countdown to Extinction 4. So Far So Good So What 5. Killing is my Business 6. Youthanasia 7. Endgame 8. Cryptic Writings 9. United Abominations 10. Dystopia 11. The System has Failed 12. Th1rt3en 13. The World Needs a Hero 14. Risk 15. Super Collider Ready for new Megadeth!!

I absolutely agree with all of your positions in the ranking, Endgame and United Abominations are pure Megadeth at its very best, total classics.

Great video Bryce, Just like you my favourite band of all time. My biggest surprise was how low you had Dystopia, that is one of my absolute favourites. I'm probably (I mean definitely) going to get a lot of hate, but my No. 1 is Th1rt3en. Great ranking once again, and you've inspired me to dive back into this catalogue. 15. Super Collider 14. The World Needs a Hero 13. KIMB ... ABIG! 12. SFSGSW 11. Risk 10. Peace Sells 9. The System has Failed 8. United Abominations 7. Endgame 6. Cryptic Writings 5. Youthanasia 4. Countdown to Extinction 3. Rust in Peace 2. Dystopia 1. Th1rt3en Would be awesome if you could do an Accept album ranking at some point. Cheers! 🥂

Use the man from Cryptic Writings is a solid favorite, overall that album is awesome! Endgame is I agree, one of their heaviest, I feel it’s an album that’s really difficult to pick out favorite songs for a playlist from, it’s an album that should be listened to from top to bottom (The right to go insane is brutal!) and I also feel United Abominations is a must listen which I also hold in high regard, a really well put together Megadeth album, which is where I discovered Lacuna Coil from! Another great band, I gotta say their cover of Cold sweat is a life saver for Super Collider!

Glad to see the level of intense love for Rust in Peace, every song on it is a masterwork in songwriting, technical performance and ability. As a guitar player the level of appreciation I have for that record is incredible. Literally the perfect metal record, it so perfectly encapsulates the essence of the genre

Just had to stop by to say 1. That OG Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good warms my heart! & 2. That So Far, So Good...So What! backpatch is killer! Now you're definitely obligated to make a vest, because you just cannot deny the world the chance to appreciate that! I guess I just love when Vic isn't a cartoon (though, don't get me wrong, I love the Vic drawings/paintings too).

I agree 100 percent with your rankings (can't believe I would agree completely with someone on any of these type of rankings). Rust in Peace was my first Megadeth CD. I saw the video for Hangar 18, and was like yes please, may I have some more/lol. Maiden's Piece of Mind was the first metal album I fell in love with and is still my all time favorite, but Rust is in the discussion.

The fact the rankings keep changing is a testament to how you can always discover new things after years of listening that makes you rethink your opinion. Megadeth music is high quality with an ever changing lineup that helped keep it interesting after so many albums. Dave will always give you some total cringe moments though.
@creepysplatter92603 жыл бұрын
The thing I love the most about megadeth is that you can always find new things when you listen to the albums again. Unlike lots of bands where their music gets boring after hearing it a lot, megadeth for me has the opposite effect and often times I won't think a song is that good until I listen to it a bunch.

I'm working on a Megadeth album ranking video too and our lists are very similar. There is such a big difference between the stinkers and their great albums so I guess that is what to expect to some degree when people rank their albums. :) Killing is my business is ranked a bit low though, the production is kinda ass, but musicwise I think it's almost as good as Peace Sells. Cryptic Writings is too high as well, She-Wolf and Disintegrators were cool, the rest was just too much cheese for me. :) I agree, Lomenzo should return to Megadeth, that would be a good choice. Cheers!

Interesting placements on Cryptic Writings and United Abominations. I wouldn't rank either over SFSGSW or KIMB especially, but interesting for sure. I think United Abominations is a bit underrated in all honesty but I love their debut. Arguably my favorite Megadeth album.

Absolutely right about Dave's riffs being harder than solos One I love to play but can be a pain in the ass is that little "spider" power chord technique Dave does during Wake Up Dead, one of my favorite riffs on peace sells for sure
