00:00 Bill & Ted's dialogue
00:15 GO TO HELL
04:52 GO TO HELL (live '91)
Now I lay me down to sleep
I Pray the lord, my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
I Pray the lord, my soul to take
I'm not going to wake up today
They've pulled my plug the picture fades
And as my body decays mold begins to fill my grave
The smell of death permeates the silk within my coffin lays
Go to hell
As they bury me now six feet there my body lies
Still feel like I'm going down I hear a distant wailing cry
God something must've gone wrong
And much too late I realize
Go to hell
solo 1: Friedman
I saw my funeral that day
I know who didn't show to mourn
My judgement was life in hell
Pillars of pain and thorns
My only friend's the goat
With 666 between his horns
Go to hell
Place all your trust here in me
Rest assured these things I know
And as Charon sails the sea
Your journey too shall end below
Ah yes you're all sitting ducks
It's true you reap what you sow
Go to hell
solo 2: Friedman
solo 3: Mustaine
solo 4: Friedman
solo 5: Mustaine
solo 6: Friedman
solo 7: Mustaine
Now I lay me down to sleep
Blah, blah, blah my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
I'll go to hell for heaven's sake
So many memories! Working on the song during soundchecks on the Japan "Rust" tour, Ellefson's wife doing a great job with the "prayer", listening to rough mixes in Mustaine's car at a formal party in North Hollywood, the video in Chicago was literally as hot as hell; especially for our bodyguard who we convinced to play the part of the devil and had to shoot his part for endless hours. Dave also worked his ass off in that one. The shoot was relatively easy for the rest of us (pix of me from that shoot are in the gallery) and I spent most of the time hanging with my Chicago friends. This was the first tune we recorded after "Rust In Peace", and the first songwriting credit for me on a Megadeth song. Very "marty-esque" soloing here, and Dave came to the party with some cool stuff too. (Marty Friedman)
Tom Whalley from Interscope Records asked us to write it. I had totally different lyrics to it. He read the lyrics and said "Dave, those aren't Mustaine lyrics" he goes "I want them to be harsh" and I said "Cool, I'll make it so harsh your toe nails turn green, I'll give you toxic shock" so I wrote something that's absolutely disgusting. (Dave Mustaine)
