Megalodon Shark Tooth Hunting in Florida | Fossil Hunting on Dirt Roads for Huge Shark Teeth

This was a fun adventure, back on the dirt roads that I first began making fossil hunting videos on KZfaq at! I started off the road by walking roads maintained with phosphate mine spoils, and later met up with by buddy Kyle to hunt some very different roads maintained with shell pit material. Both types of roads had Miocene-Pleistocene aged marine sediments on them, which is exactly the right sediment for megalodon shark teeth...and both locations produced megalodon teeth this time.

@thanrose
@thanrose 3 жыл бұрын
All throughout Florida there are shell/gravel roads. Most of the shelly stuff is dredged up in the Gulf, piled up and then trucked off to where the government wants roads graded with it. Generally these will be unincorporated areas so likely not any of the city names you would think of, but even then I know of shelly gravel roads in the cities of Jacksonville, Orlando, Daytona and Tampa. I'd bet these two are more north and central as in Gainesville north to Tallahassee, and the looks of the areas is definitely more Gulf coast or west of I-75. Peace River and Venice Beach are two locales you might research for fossils, specifically shark teeth.

Are you gonna be selling any separate meg teeth or mammoth fossils separately because I live all the way over in the UK and you can’t find mammoth or meg teeth as commonly compared to Florida. Like I’d have to drive 2 and a half hours to go to a shark tooth spot where you can find meg teeth. Even then you don’t have a guarantee of finding one, as well as the biggest get like 2 inches!

"What did you do today, Cris?" "Oh, hung out with Kyle, found some shark teeth, some coral, contracted Lyme...yanno...normal stuff." Old Lady Tip: turn location info on for your camera on your phone so when you come across cool places you've scouted, you can just take a pic for reference and then you also have the map right there for you. Of course, if you decide to forward, share, or publish the pic, you can strip all that data off first.

Is there a better way to remove meta data than taking repeated screenshots of the photo? It works for me but feels like a kinda crude method. An app that scrapes would be cool.

@@Junk_Druggler There are a couple of Android apps that take off EXIF data. You can also use free programs like IrfanView. I don't know about Apple products, though.

Haha, while that would be useful, it’s usually the first thing I make sure is off when I get a new phone. I’ve had people admit to me that they’ve tried looking at that info in photos I’ve posted to find spots of mine. Thankfully I’ve always kept it off...though I admit it would be extremely helpful.
