Getting back into my childhood arthropod phase (we all had one), and I just come across this channel on a whim. So glad your content exists to make the subject easy to understand and digest to springboard into deeper study.

Megaloptera is a group I don't encounter very often, and when I do, I usually don't pay much attention to it. They all look similar. For the other orders you presented I was constantly amazed by the great diversity, in awe about species that look nothing like what we have here (or like what I have ever seen, as there are plenty of insects I have never seen living just around where I live), but for the Megaloptera, shrink the big species, and none of the species you showed would particularly attract my attention. Thank you for including the latin names as precisely as you know them.

Hey Ran! Yea although the forms of these insects can be pretty staggering, diversity within the order is not particularly large. There are actually only two families within the Megaloptera! Corydalidae and Sialidae. Really neat ecology though

@@insectspotlightproject I just looked it up and there are only a little over 300 known species of Megaloptera worldwide, which really is not a lot.

As someone with entomophobia, I'm glad to have only ever encountered two Dobson flies in my life and they were both dead. However for some reason I vividly recall finding a molt of one on a tree. But, if they only live for a week or two, would they molt?

Sounds like an interesting find! They molt a few times in their larval stage then into their pupal then adult stage, but after that theyre done molting! (most insects do not molt once they reach their adult stage)
