Hi, great to see your beautiful bathroom! Wonderful choices! I live in a 76 year home. It’s hard to replace anything in the home, because you can’t go to the store, and just pick up anything! It all has to be custom fitted! It’s miserable, and cost way more than you think. It does have good bones and we feel safe during hurricanes, except for flooding. Thanks, for including us in all your work. Use it in good health and enjoy! I love love love the shower!!!

I was blessed to be married to a carpenter who could do all of the electrical & plumbing as well. He was in great demand, just by word of mouth!. I was the beneficiary of beautiful new rooms in every home we bought! Sadly, after being so strong, building so many beautiful projects, he was diagnosed with a slow growing genetic, muscular disease & now cant even lift his arms over his head for very long periods of time. I so enjoy watching your blogs & your beautiful family!

I am really glad you did this video. The answer to not knowing about who is good or not when doing work to a house was helpful. I do not feel bad that i have had issues as a single female getting work done to my house. It had been used as a way to show how i should not have bought a house or how much i do not know. It makes me feel better knowing that other people, including people who work in the industry, have issues with hiring work to be done too.

You did an amazing job. It's stunning. I put in a glass shower door and tile shower walls and floor, my contractor told me the best way to keep it clean is squeegee the walls, door, and floor when done showering. It only takes a few minutes and really saves on cleaning, especially keeps the glass door crystal clear.

My husband and I bought a fixer upper and it was definitely a challenge but now I have panel and wallpaper free walls new roof and new front porch . We still have the kitchen and bathroom and living room to do but like you both said it takes time and money . We are proud yo say we paid for all the remodeling with saving the money and then doing the project.

Being a contractor through all this supply chain mess seems like it'd be a nightmare. It's taken us 10 months to get our Bosch dishwasher order fulfilled. I can't imagine trying to do an entire kitchen right now.

People always tell you to do everything neutral(which seems boring to me), but I totally disagree. I think a house with personality will be what you want and want to live in.

In Montana we lived in a pole barn. We put in good windows and doors, and did all the interior work ourselves. What a lovely home it turned out to be. We will do it again when we retire. The bathroom looks great. Love the vanity and shower. Good job! guys.

You've done such a fantastic job in the en-suite - I'm sure it'll be a joy to use it now. I'm surprised you didn't go for a shower unit with a small hand spray as well as the overhead fitting - I find the spray really helpful when cleaning the shower cubicle, and I use it to wash down the cubicle after every shower so I get all the soap off the walls and doors (less cleaning needed!) I would be worried about a tile flooring in a shower cubicle being slippy when wet - plus a friend of our has a similar tile base in their walk in shower and it has stained a bit. A suggestion for the toilet 'nook' would be to paint the back wall a darker colour - it would help give a bit of 'defiition' to the space and will make it look bigger. Josh is absolutely right - everyone knows it's bathrooms and kitchens that sell houses! (as long as you haven't gone for anything too wacky) The doors really can change a house so much - our cheap, white, panelled doors were replaced with lovely pale oak ones and it made a huge difference! Btw I love your cardigan.

I enjoyed this so much. It actually brought back memories of our second home that we moved into when our second child was only six weeks old. My husband was an electrician, but he could build, do plumbing, and most anything. I felt so lucky because when we had something that needed repair, he fixed it! You are very lucky to have an experienced guy, such as your husband, Josh, who now has completed another beautiful and amazing room in your home and it’s just for the two of you! Both of you are very fortunate to have each other because you each have the skills necessary to continue making a wonderful and a very happy life together! 🍁🌻🍂

We bought a liveable 2 bedroom, 1 bath fixer upper in 2018! (we were expecting baby #3) Last year (2021) we added an addition and renovated our entire house!! (While living in it, with 4 children) Now it's got 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and I got to have my dream kitchen since my husband builds cabinets!!! He also did about 90% of the work himself on evenings and weekends. Literally new everything! Took us 10 months to do the majority of the renovation and now we have a beautiful home that we absolutely love!!

Does the vanity mirror on that end reflect the toilet wall ? Looks like I am talking myself out of my suggestion. Lol. Josh is so much more comfortable with participating in a video. Hi from Ireland Enjoy ur videos so much. Love all your topics! My hubby does our renovations evenings & Saturdays he has a main job that involves travel all over Ireland. So as u can imagine projects take forever!! But it’s great saving too. Situation the same ere …material so expensive now and wait so long to get it. People changing house plans coz of cost increase. Can’t get quotes coz prices changing so much. Quotes stand for a week max. Tell your kids they are wonderful. We had same deadlines ..4 kids!! Maybe I shld have had more would have got more work done!!😂 next deadline is my sons 21st party. But we have learnt u have to enjoy life with ur family too. They grow up so fast. Xx

Great advice. Make your home your home and have faith that if it comes to reselling, that happens when its right and not just because people like your specific remodel choices.

This reminds me of my husband and I. We were in the same kind of business. We loved It! Our rule of thumb was 1/3 down and balance at completion. This cut down on having to keep inventory. Also when we found good subs, we wanted to keep them. You need to pay them well if you want to keep them. I miss this part of our life. We had to close our business in 2006 due to the recession, and moved to Orlando . Worked here with brother in law until 2008 when it hit here. I'm the idea person, and husband does the work ❣️

I like your bathroom.. it’s nice Josh can do it... that’s how we remodeled in our first home... our second home we hired people for part of it or most of it. I wanted nice glass shower doors and was proud of them like you are. Now we down sized and built a small retirement home and guess what I wanted no glass doors!! I absolutely love our tiled walk in shower,no doors or curtain. I agree we are so blest here in Lancaster county to be able to hire people who are wonderful in their field of expertise.

You did a FANTASTIC job in the design of your bathroom. You really have a gift for design. You should hire yourself out!!! Our home was also built in 1979. We have lived in our home for 36 years. We had the harvest gold sinks, oven, counter tops wall paper etc. We had 2 half walls with the wooden spindles. Over time we have put on a great room addition, took down the half walls, put in wood floors, no more harvest gold anything!! Replaced every window. It has taken us 30+ years. If I had my choice, I would love a brand new home. I've never had one but would love one!! I love the vanity idea and definitely used the space wisely. Your bathroom should remain timeless based on your neutral color choices. Should your taste change in years down the road, it will be easy to change up simply with paint and accent pieces. You are so lucky that Josh can do all of the work. He too is gifted. His craft is becoming a lost art so he will always be in high demand. Can't wait to see what you do with your master bedroom. Beautiful renovation. It was so beneficial to get Josh's experienced thoughts on renovations. I am sure you have helped many considering doing renovations. We improved and did some renovations, in all the homes we lived in. Totally agree with Josh buying the best quality paint..Also we always used neutral colours knowing we were moving often.

My husband has been doing building maintenance since about 1975. And we worked together to build our first house in Brickerville. Working on it evenings and weekends took us about 2 years. He would agree with Josh about dismantling. After retiring to SC he’s still working in maintenance for a park and playground. He hates when the other just think you ram everything. He always says take your time you’ll be better off.
