AudreiseIsHere -Randomness So glad you were able to make one! 😄 I had a hard time finding a tutorial too and ended up having to google and search through random websites! 😂

I don't think the tutorial is terrible at all, I understand everything and I can't wait to do my first kumi bracelet! People who complain need to work out mentally.

Thank you so much for this! I've been wanting to learn how to do the kumi bracelets but the only video I found was a wheel with only 8 slots and you use 7 strings, then move every 3rd string into the free space. And that's the only one I know how to make! You're really good at explaining and teaching so I hope you will decide to do some more videos like this with different patterns! Much love!

I prefer to do right down first then left up turn counter clockwise. does this make much of a difference? Is your newer video of this weaving for the pattern K10279? thanks!

I'm a beginner so I'll only use 4 strings for a long while before I go on to more strings, like 8, and so forth.
@kale89314 жыл бұрын
so i’ve always done these down to the right and then up to the left, would i have the flip the pattern for this to work?
@MegMakesCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Kale I honestly can’t say for sure as I’ve never tried it that way. But I think... I think it should be fine so long as you are consistently doing it right then left every time because your strings still end up in the same spots.
@selman7622 жыл бұрын
Can I do that without a wheel ? I already did one simple type of these bracelets with 7 strings and I used to cut 8 cuts a circle of paperboard but I see that if I want to do other patterns I should have more cuts.
@MegMakesCrafts2 жыл бұрын
I feel like you probably could but it would become a lot to manage and hold in place. The wheel really helps keep the strings from shifting and moving to where they aren’t supposed to be. However, the craft at its core is just braiding. If you try, let me know how it goes!
@amberhedglin3 жыл бұрын
It means Japanese or Chinese braid, you can use silk cord for them also, or rattail cord.

Hey Megan. I love your videos and I have a doubt in your tutorial .The question is does this method work for every kumihimo pattern ?
@MegMakesCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Sanjana Rajkumar the patterns I have encountered can be done like this, like the patterns in friendship-bracelets but I know there are kumihimo plates that are square and I know you can even do spirals with kumihimo so I don’t think this is the only way to do it.
@sanjana37283 жыл бұрын

Do you have a pattern generator? I don't understand how you went from the hexagonal pattern to the pattern on the wheel.
@MegMakesCrafts3 жыл бұрын
That pattern is pulled from friendship-bracelets.net where there is a kumihimo pattern generator. The hexagon is broken into ‘slices’ and each slice is broke into two sections. Each section is a different colour that represents a string that you put on your wheel.

Can you use boondoggle plastic string
@leticiagarcia21593 жыл бұрын
I just finished a kumihimo bracelet that require 40 strings so I made a kumihimo disc of 80 slots, the pattern reads “ I ❤️ U “ came out beautiful, you can find the pattern on www.friendship-bracelets.net on the search bar type in k752 and you will see the pattern.

How do you know if you should rotate it clock-wise or in the other direction?
@MegMakesCrafts2 жыл бұрын
So far as I know you should always work your sections clockwise, technically I suppose that means you turn your wheel counterclockwise.
@catherinedawton9873 жыл бұрын
Can you teach us the tutorial for the cherry blossom and the cupcake ones, please?!?!? they are so cute and I wanna make them!
@MegMakesCrafts3 жыл бұрын
I may just do that! I've been contemplating redoing a kumihimo tutorial with my newer set up.
@catherinedawton9873 жыл бұрын
@@MegMakesCrafts You should definitely do that pls!
@amberhedglin3 жыл бұрын
You can do them with 4 strings.
@winningnumbers3 жыл бұрын
How do you finish the closures please? Do you use a button? Can I use a button end? Could you please make a video showing this? please please and thank you
@MegMakesCrafts3 жыл бұрын
In this video I just tied a knot and made sure the piece was long enough to go around the wrist. You could do a button if you put a loop in the beginning of your strings, or you can do a loop and ties like I did in my other kumihimo video!
@winningnumbers3 жыл бұрын
@@MegMakesCrafts Thank you. Do you have a video showing the button method?
@MegMakesCrafts3 жыл бұрын
@@winningnumbers I do not currently have one as it’s not an ending I typically use. But if you search friendship bracelet button closure it would be the same concept!

This video would be so much easier if you would show the WHOLE WHEEL throughout the whole video so we can see what numbers you're working with!!! I had start over 4 times & finally gave up all together because I kept getting lost and confused!!! If I had to rate this video on 1-10 I'd definitely be giving it no more than a 5!!!! Show the whole wheel!!!!!!

Hey thanks for your comment! This is an old version of this video! I have made an updated one once I had a little more experience recording that shows more of the wheel!

@MegMakesCrafts Жыл бұрын
The pattern is only used for the initial positioning of the strings and that’s it. Then you repeat the left up, right down working around the circle! Each segment on the pattern is divided into 2 with each half of the segment representing a string. Hope that helps!
@khadijahussain55873 жыл бұрын
terrible, cant see half the wheel, and at least say the numbers!
@MegMakesCrafts3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I’ve made a newer tutorial with a newer setup where the wheel is more visible. Referencing the numbers on the wheel is useless unless you’re using the exact same wheel as me. Wheels can come in a variety of sizes with a large scope of numbers on them- some don’t even have numbers. I’m sorry you didn’t like my tutorial, but I hope you stick with the craft and find something that does work for you!

@MegMakesCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Caryn Grant all wheels are different sizes and some don’t even have numbers so referencing the numbers would be completely useless unless you’re using the exact same wheel. I’m sorry you don’t like my tutorial. I hope you don’t give up on the craft and find a tutorial that works for you though 😊
