Thank you for the preview and insights. I usually don’t comment on your videos, but just wanted to say that your explanations and analyses really help. MW is the only play style I enjoy in healing and for the most part in wow in general. I really would like to see ancient teachings getting more attention as this is the most fun I had in wow so far. I would also like to see some WW and Brewmaster content, but your MW content is top notch, thank you!

Chi-Ji/Ancient Teachings is the only MW playstyle I enjoy. If I'm gonna be a caster I'm going priest. I really like that pulsing Halo build that hpriest has.

I just wanted to comment the exact same thing, mw's playstyle is amazing in keys, but it's so uninspired in raid. If wanted to stand there and cast the same ability, i would just play priest.

Yeah im the same as well. I love the spec in dungeons and when I first tried it in raid I just went back to another healer.

"I had a really good time on this dungeon" 80 deaths +5 let's go! Jokes aside, I once did a +10 Academy first week of Dragonflight and had like 226 deaths so y'know. It shall always be remembered both fondly and tilted.

@NachosMitDip I had a group about to 2 chest a 20 Vortex Pinnacle in season 2 then we proceeded to wipe a million times on the last trash pack and the last boss (tyrannical)

Thank you for the video! I've started to play mistweaver as my main melee healer that's to your channel and in the wake of holy paladin change in gameplay, and it seems to become my new main for TWW, the current build seems to double down on the importance of melee. In the m+ portion of the video it seems that outside of CDs it's harder to move bars, is that just the current tuning?

That's partially tuning and partially my lack of haste on beta so the maintenance just comes out significantly slower

Super cool! Curiosity question from a pvp MW trying to understand why MW plays the way it does in PvE: in something like RBGs where I'm spreading enveloping, I'd spec peer into peace and use that to do so but I notice you hard casting it a lot, why is that? I only mention this because I feel like in PvP you very rarely hard cast anything that could be cast via your soothing mist channel.

We typically don’t end up casting as much but I was wanting to get value out of Strength of the Ox and was overcasting a bit since I’m unfamiliar with the damage patterns in the dungeons. There’s some dungeons that I run PiP for and in that case I would play as you described but otherwise hard casting for EnvM coverage is fine. It also is a bit clunky looking on beta since I have like 11% haste when normally I’d like to be around 25+

anyone else have an issue where they pop their Cekestial Conduit and it immediately stops? Ive tried just hitting the key and NOT pressing any other button and sometimes it just gets interrupted. Idk if its a passive heal that goes off that interrupts it or I'm going crazy but when i was raid testing it was happening all the time

There used to be a bug where RenM ticks were interrupting it but that was supposedly fixed, that being said yes I have had this issue as well, even after the fix

Honestly the class isn't having that much love. We have been used to have such terrible design that anything is nice but the real change was going into Dragonflight. Most of the additions are in the end pretty underwhelming (zen pulse aside I guess, though losing the damage aspect from it sucks) and both hero specs are really boring compared to every other healing spec.

I chose monk because of a lack of procs and ability to heal-win based on skill. Yet we rely on random procs for throughput now? Does this not take the enjoyable control away from playstyle?

Sorry for late reply, had to find logs: For the M+ build on Broodtwister on our kill I did 138k compared to our discs 163k, hpriest 107k, and the rshams 53k/24k Yu'lon/RM on Nexus Princess (logs got weird due to crashes/dcs) it was 54k from me, 107k from the disc, hpriest 60k, and rsham 30k/24k Finally for Yu'lon/RM on Rasha'nan I did 82k compared to disc 119k, hpriest 93k, and rsham 52k/18k

Typically priest and druid are "safer" choices due to raid buffs and priest having access to 2 healer specs but it comes down to what you find more fun in the end!

@@Megasett To be honest Druid is for comfort but gameplay wise I don’t like it much these days. I think I will use Remix to test out shadow priest in leveling even if it’s buffed as fuck just to see if the rotation looks good (haven’t touched it since Cata) and then I’ll decide I guess !

We're always melee but raid is more heavily rooted in Rising Mist than it was in DF, M+ remains the same as it has

caster mw is viable as well, in both m+ & raid :) that's the best part about mw monk. I just wish for streamers & high end gamers to stop dooming caster mw and appreciate the felxibility of the spec. But i like megs videos :)

Viable is subjective, so it’s up to you to decide what you want but that doesn’t mean I’d recommend it nor does it change the fact that we are coded as melee.

@@Megasett i think what i meant was, i dont like being forced into the dmg into healing playstyle - i love my monk and using downtime to meele enemies but having the possiblity to roll out of danger and throw out some strong heals with soothing mist & co. I feel like, that high end players hate it / doom it cause its a dmg loss and not that efficient. But especially soothing mist is such an iconic and cool looking spell - just love it, and I've played around +24/+25 keys. I understand, that high end gamers want, what suits them most, as do I - so it would be nice to not devide the monk community by doming either one the other playstyles ... and just be happy we have the option to do both :) My argument is not personal against anyone, especially you Meg, cause I really enjoy your content and the way you play! Im just stating that I enjoy my soothing mist caster monk :D

I'm surprised nobody is talking more about ther hero talents themselves. Am I the only Mistweaver who find them both very bizarrely designed? Celestial's CD comes out of nowhere (and imo would be a lot more logical on Master of Harmony). The Niuzao's proc "forcing" Enveloping Mist casts so often completely break the flow of the spec in melee. Conduit as a whole is very passive and doesn't have much impact on gameplay beyond having a new CD (which is nice I guess, but with the removal of Essence font in raid I'm not a fan of having it replaced by a much longer CD). And then master of harmony is fine and all on paper but the fact that it's "discharged" on TFT use is just the weridest decision ever. TFT is the core of the Mistweaver's rotation it's never good to sit on a TFT charge. But you should want to sit on your vitality pool and trigger it only when healing (or damage I guess) is necessary. As it is right now you're just stacking so little vitality that you can barely feel anything at all and if you somehow sit on your two (two!) charges of TFT for ages to have enough vitality to make it count you then overheal like crazy anyway and waste all of the unused vitality. Master of harmony should proc from something a lot more optional like Enveloping Mist, unused vitality should be kept, vitality in general should be stacked faster and the damage portion of the vitality shouldn't nuke the vitality pool in litterally two GCDs (seriously you just Rising Sun Kick and Blackout Kick and you have no vitality left it's insane).

Depending on your level of content you should be able to use Ancient Teachings builds just fine for raid

@@Zerg777 After playing JB and Gift, no, since the only good part of Chi-ji at the moment is Chi Cocoons so it's still better having it on a shorter CD. Tuning aside M+ is better suited for 1min cds from your healer than somewhere between 2-3min

Giving all healers brez and stuff like that is pure homogenization. Look i figure this is your first MMORPG but classes should be different in RPG's, it's been like this since Everquest which is what make classes unique and special. If you give everyone the same thing then what's the point? Classes should have totally different kits and bring their own utility. Love the content as always but i will always disagree with that point.

All healers having a bres does not make MW play like Hpriest or Hpal play like Druid , or Rsham play like Pres. All of the healers play entirely different from each other and ARE unique and special with various forms of utility etc. but brez should not be one of those things since it is so impactful. The homogenization argument is so tired and if you actually think 1 button would make all the healers the same then idk what to tell you.

FFXIV has much tighter tuning than WoW and all tanks have access to some form of group utility and an external, all healers can combat res, and all dps have some sort of group damage buff, personal defensive, and personal heal. All of the jobs are quite different Everquest is also quite old, it's not a relevant comparison to modern MMOs, even early versions of WoW has changed immensely. To answer the question "what's the point", the point is to be able to play what you'd like playstyle wise, without sacrificing key utility that would hinder your group

Each class does bring their own kit and utility. Can paladins make the whole group enter stealth? Do monks bring totems? Do death knights have blessing of protection? If you think something like affliction warlocks play the same as fury warriors, then idk what to tell you.

I'm kind of disappointed with how M+ is looking. It just seems like more of the same as DF season 4 with huge unavoidable AOE or one shots that require defensive CD rotations to survive. There's been a lot of talk about pruning back defensives, and I wish they'd go that route. If they wanna make dungeons difficult while handing out more tankiness they'll just have to ramp up the spike damage. I hate as a healer feeling like I can't keep ppl up on my own and i'm praying they hit their CDs. Also, I end up pugging a lot and working out a CD rotation for abilities is basically impossible, which essentially feels required for the 15s and 16s I'm having to pug for score right now. Season 3 felt so much more fun and enjoyable.

Meg & fellow monks! Would love to get your thoughts on a build like this for raid caster. Wowhead link: C4QAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMs9AbDmBMzMzs8AjlZZWgHYZWWWmZWWgpZmZswMMjtZMz2MmZMbzCwGBAAAAABYxystMbzMTAAA I ended up with 3 points I wasn't sure where to put, so I ended up going with Stomp, Resplendent Mist, and Misty peaks. Looking for any feedback on what to do with these. Stomp is mostly there for splash heals and the free procs of vivify.
