The salient hostility I felt for you was replaced with feelings of sadness when I met a friend of my husband in a VA hospital. Before he went into the service, he was a shy, well-groomed, healthy young man. He was now a messed-up individual who had all the symptoms seen in other Vietnam vets, including being hooked on drugs. Tears filled my eyes, and my heart ached as we talked. Throughout that day, my mind froze on that meeting.
