Maybe use a sleeve on the top so you make your arch longer or shorter as you need? Another quick suggestion is to put a piece vertical towards the front of the arch ( can also be telescoping) so you don’t need to find the balance point, lift until the front of the log hits it and then the back will come right off the ground. That will also keep the log from swinging while you move it.

I love your design. I'm sure it's too late to tell you this, but it looks like you could easily modify the upper frame of this log arch to be able to extend out and retract back as needed making this one log arch adjustable to haul different lengths of logs.

I like it! But for much larger logs like 20-25". With that sized log I'd just drag it and not waste my time hooking up the whole thing. On my quads I carry DIY steel wire rope slings about 60" that I can have around the end of a log in seconds especially if I have a cant hook handy. Looks like there are a lot of design options for this. Nice job!

Why not make the long center tube telescoping so you can adjust the length to suit the logs length

Very nice arch. I just finished one a few days ago. Haven't tried it yet . Will wait till spring. But what is that grappling scissors type of mechanism ? I want one but don't know what to call it. From Stouffville, Ontario.
