It's one bar of 4/4 followed by one bar of 15/16 (not 7/8!). If you sum up both bars you get 31/16, which is then subdivided into different 16th note groups: 5 - 7 - 5 - 6 - 8 = 31. You can get a detailed description on my DVD.

IDC what haters say, metal drumming FTW. Especially with people like Hannes, who can mix it up and blend in a lot of groove while playing. Also how does one count the poly rhythm that starts at 2:32? I've heard somebody mentioning that it is in 15/16 time, but not sure how to count that!

Don't even try to count it, just feel it. Once you register the first section that abruptly ends before the phrase completes, the rest just comes.

You would count 15/16 as follows: 1e&a2e&a3e&a4e&1e&a2e&a3e&a4e& etcetc.... Check out the song "Bloodmeat" by Protest The Hero for a nice example if 15/16: the intro pattern is one measure of 4/4 then one measure of 15/16 (then the whole thing repeats)
