Let's not forget that Hannes also played the drums on the legendary "Epitaph" by Necrophagist.. without a doubt Hannes is an amazing drummer.

I don't know why everyone's complaining about the sound. I've seen Hannes with his band live and I kind of stood behind the P.A. , so I just got the sound from stage. And the drums just sounded like in this video. Less EQ and stuff. And the drums sound killer. Especially the toms! Enough talking, great video, great drummer! Servus!

The almost unmatched blistering speed of his blast beat is one thing. But the sheer force he is able to generate while doing it is what really boggles my mind. It’s like his hand and finger muscles possess the bite force of a saltwater crocodile

Love that Meinl is accepting these great metal drummers. Derek Roddy, Hannes Grossmann, and I know there have been some other metal drummers play these festivals. Would love to see Jamie Saint Merat get invited to play at the festival! One of the best metal drummers out there and he deserves the recognition!

I just think they didn't give him triggers on the bass drum, he is hitting all the notes for sure...but towards the end of or in the middle of double bass runs, its like the right kick is coming through more, triggers would have solved this...which I know Hannes normally plays with. His blasts still sound really really good. It's just the the higher note divisions get flubby and lost.

He also previously played in Necrophagist, besides Obscura and Blotted Science which he's in right now. Obscura is the stuff he's playing here, basically progressive, melodic death metal. Blotted Science is a mix between technical and progressive death metal. Although it's more progressive than death metal, if that makes sense? His old band Necrophagist pretty much defined technical death metal as we know it today.

how the hell do you memorize playing a complex song without sheet music? drummers, please i need an answer
@CrypticMindUA
@CrypticMindUA 10 жыл бұрын
Never thought about it), every normal musician can remember playlist no less then 10 songs without any troubles, and if you created all drum staff in song by yourself, i think you can memorize unlimited volume of it)
@VentoRdrummeR
@VentoRdrummeR 10 жыл бұрын
that's because drummers don't necessarily play their stuff note for note - many just know the patterns, grooves and trademark fills. but memorizing each particular stroke would often be too much. There are a few perfectionists, but it isn't common.
@ModArch
@ModArch 10 жыл бұрын
Aside from memorizing a song using your brain, you can also do that by using your muscles. If you play a song often enough, and you do that if you're in a band annd rehearse often, your muscles are able to remember complex movement patterns. As long as you keep playing the songs and don't change your setup, you're able to play even these difficult songs without really having to think about them.
@behindthen0thing

lots of repetition. Also many times as a drummer you improvise a bit. But if it is note for note it's just many weeks of repetition. Not as hard as it seems
@XenoTravis
@XenoTravis 5 жыл бұрын
Guitarist and drummers in bands don't need sheet music because they just remember what they write. Hannes does a good job playing the music the same without a lot of improvising. It is definitely as hard as it looks at first. But once you tour it becomes as easy as walking. Normally people use sheet music if they didn't write the music. It is less personal to them.

I'm going to guess the Power Center Reverse Dot head (or maybe HD Dry or ST Dry)...and some coated G2 heads for the toms. G2's are warm, and the Power Center is like....industry standard for Tama drums.

Again, people crying over the sound of the mix. It's probably more important to Meinl if the people who actually paid to be there could hear the sound properly. Isn't this simply meant to showcase Hannes' performance? On youtube? For FREE? Some extra mics around the right cymbals for this video might've helped sell them better but other than that, it was a live performance at a festival, not like a Jimmy Fallon session with a trillion dollar budget. People complain too much.

@danielcalderon Meinl should actually be concerned about the sound on KZfaq. KZfaq has millions of potential cymbal buyers who want to hear what the cymbals actually sound like. You'd be naive to think that Meinl just want to appeal to the people that were there.

Like I said, "Some extra mics around the right cymbals for this video might've helped sell them better." But they're just a cymbal manufacturer, not highly trained professional sound engineers. The sound you hear is probably what went straight through the FOH.

True musicians don't bring their judgements over what others put their efforts and passion in, unless you re a complete douchebag, you either like and try to open your eyes and mind to grasp as much as you can from others, or you re just free to pass your way if you don't like!
