Yeah for sure. The reason behind that is because Tim actually writes all of the parts
@srsbsns7673
@srsbsns7673 2 ай бұрын
@@colbyshannon6548He doesn't, though. He's said he usually puts together a basic drum pattern to match a hook or line he's written, and then turns it over to Clay to flesh out. He and Scott write the guitar lines together. Each basically writes their own parts, and they send them back and forth to each other to "fuck them up" until they have a deadline. Tim definitely gets and deserves the most credit for songwriting since the hooks form the core of their music, but the whole band is rightfully getting writing credits (on their newest album there is 1 track with no drums or bass that is only credited to Tim, Scott, and Brasstracks, so they're not afraid to credit accurately). Luke Holland also got writing credits on several tracks on RTYWD, but his versions are slightly different than the final product, so even then Clay didn't just learn someone else's lines.

You have it a bit backwards. He’s an extremely talented drummer that can do a multitude of styles. He is playing a drum track that perfectly complements this current band he’s playing with perfectly, but you could throw him in another band and he would slay that too even if it were anything from Black Metal to Jazz. His application of rudiments, dynamics, precision, use of space in the composition etc. point to him being capable of playing with just about anyone and excelling

what's even more impressive is he isn't even doing it to show off, if you notice in the studio version you don't hear it, there is a hang in the percussion and that is his way of keeping time. the composition of this is so tight that it fits right in though. like it's supposed to be there.

The Speed is straight metal, his chops are straight gospel pop & his hi hat work with the 32nd notes is hip hop (and metal).....this is the new age drummer (just good at EVERYTHING)

Minus Tim's guitar playing Clay's playing is really what made polyphia stand out for me. His cymbal work is so good and creative.

The ability to resist the pressures of filling in the spaces is what makes his playing different. Brilliant work! Also, 1:50 should've been a higher shot angle. We needed to see that fill in all its glory.

What's very cool about this is despite it being complex, the main hits on the kick and snare for most of the song are simple, so it keeps an easy to follow beat despite the very complicated everything else.

Discovered this band, watched this video and thought "This guy is constantly taking advantage of double strokes. I bet anything he marched." and Google says yes. Tenors for 3 years - and I assume in Texas, where high schools take marching serious. Definitely see those skills transfer with the melodic phrasing, rudimentals, sticking, cross overs, sweeps etc.
