@@dodilove1 I can't agree more. Conan has always been such a genuine and self-effacing guy, but he truly is very intelligent and perceptive in his interviews. He seems to have slipped away from the top stage, less due to his own failing than the whims of a network hierarchy and a dumbed down audience. I have missed seeing more and more as his shows went to 30 minutes, now only streaming. Listening to Mel Brooks here was also the most enjoyable time I've ever seen him and I can't help but think Conan was a big factor...Another top notch interviewer who's stepped back from prominence is Bob Costas. Both of them brought ample smarts, sincerity and preparation to their interviews...

I was 5 when I saw "Blazing Saddles" for the first time. I didn't remember much of it, but I was surprised when I saw the klansmen in Fried Green Tomatoes. Their robes were wrong, because they were missing "Have a Nice Day." I was 6 when I watched Spaceballs for the first time. Both movies were watched in my living room and they were part of some family movie night. I was 10 when I watched "Robin Hood: Men in Tights." I was in a hotel room in North Carolina attending a family reunion. I was 12 when I watched "Young Frankenstein." I was home from school, sick, and I felt like I was going to laugh until I died. I can't tell you what I did last week. That's the power of Mel Brooks.

I just watched a "documentary" with him a week ago, either on Hulu or Netflix. Dated 2019 I think. Mel had driven his car to a local supermarket to pick up a few things for dinner later with his interviewer and Carl Reiner. The interviewer accompanied him of course. Some lady came up to Mel and interrupted everything and just did what we'd all do, probably - and thanked him profusely for all the fun. He wasn't pissed, or short, or impatient - he accepted her gratitude graciously, and even though that's happened countless thousands of times to him, I'm sure, you could tell he still was genuinely glad to be appreciated for what he's given us. The lady finally saundered off and Mel got back to his shopping... Aside from everything else I thought it particularly great that he's still driving his own car and hitting the supermarket - at 93.

Conan really shines without an audience in front of him. I've loved Conan since I first saw his legendary remote when he went to Houston to watch his show that came on at like 2:45. His visit to 1860s baseball, going to Ireland, and driving people during a transit strike. I know that he's a family man and he shouldn't be apart from them. But he's better than Johnny Carson when he takes us to another country or takes us to something we may have heard about. These interviews are also awesome. Basically, Conan is best without an audience. We love him, but he doesn't need us and I hope he continues the remotes but I would also sit and watch these shows with glee.

It was just so funny even the serious stuff he managed to look at the humorous side of life you actually learn something by listening to him and laugh at the same time which is rare in today's world and Conan I believe was the perfect person to interview him. Conan has an incredible depth of knowledge which even impressed Mr. Brooks, and the reverence he holds him in really came through here just such a super super interview and they also have great chemistry and admiration for each other.

That’s a good observation, I actually remember sort of noticing that at the time with Conan when he moved up to the top spot to Leno’s place, that Conan wasn’t what he used to be on his old show and that hadn’t evolved into something better or perhaps say more authentic like he’s able to do here or on his podcast. Instead he was kinda trying to be the mainstream guy more like what he thought that was supposed to be (based on Carson, Letterman, Leno) and it wasn’t the same. I can see why it didn’t work out honestly, not that I thought Leno was better obviously, but it wasn’t quite what I’d hoped it be. But of course he should’ve been given more time and either way Leno’s hanging around in the corners and everything else was not cool and quite shady, but anyway.

Conan, I love these clips; they're in the spirit of the old Dick Cavett programs, where we really get to know the guest(s) through in-depth questions from a true fan, and not the fast food, disposable Bic lighter-like interviews we get on late night shows or daytime TV. Refreshing!

Thank You for sharing. Incredible joint interview, I’m so impressed with the mutual grace and ease displayed between the two of you. A lot of genuine love and respect flowing there. Mel Brooks has always been a national treasure in my eyes, and Conan O’Brien seems to have truly found his rightful seat at the table with this series. Would like to add that Mr. O’Brien has always brought to mind the artistry of Steve Allen, the early television host and comedy genius, being able to calmly guide a conversation interview, keeping it fresh and interesting is no easy matter. Congratulations on this series, the ‘comfort zone ‘ seems just right.

I will always remember when I first watched History of the World Part 1. I was a strange child who actually loved history class, and was flipping through that old Comcast On Demand menu and loved watching history channel documentaries. I saw that movie and didn't read the description but assumed it was actually a real historical documentary. I figured out pretty quickly that it wasn't but just laughed hysterically the entire film. I remember being sorely dissapointed that there was no part 2.

“You are relentless.” Thank for for this Mel. Since I was a child and still to this day I’ve used the wonderful films you’ve created to see me through every single hard time of my life. Right now this is the hardest place I’ve ever been, and despite my entire world crumbling down around me, I’ve still got a reason to smile. Thank you for every time you’ve tried to share laughter to make the world a little bit better, and make another Jew a little richer 😂 You’re simply the best my friend. Thanks for everything.
