I wish these old singers were still alive when they uesd to sing it was clear as the day is long. Thenew country singers have a long way to go before they can fill the old country singers shoes

Back in the early 70s here in California I used to work for a couple who used to listen to country music all the time, that's what I listened to all day long 5 days a week he was from Ohio she was from Virginia very nice folks and among the things I learned from them was to like listening to country music till this day. Now all I can say is I thank God for allowing me to be a part of that American dream from them beautiful days and that I miss them folks and their country traditions I learned from them God knows how much I miss em and hope to see em again as the Lord promised us

Brings back memories of when I was a kid in the 1970s headed to the forest to chop wood with my dad in his Ford pickup truck for the fireplace and hitting the fishing hole afterwards in southern Illinois. Always had the country music station on.

Why can't they cut songs like this anymore? The first lick and you know immediately who's voice willing be coming through the mic. Mel was a big part of that magical music era, with his distinct Texas drawl. It's sad to think those days are gone for good.

Kenneth Sibert I saw an interview view of him when he was in music city or someplace like that and someone had locked themselves out of their room and car because of leaving keys in their room. Mel said he was sleeping in the bath tub and they were crWling through the bath room window to get their keys. Mel said he was trying to tell paycheck that someone was crawling through the bath room window and he couldn't because of his suffering. He said he thought about it a second and decided to sing it "someone's coming through the bathroom window ". it was hilarious.

He had a long list of hits, and sang well. I am glad I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s, able to hear classic country when the hits were new. Music began to reek during 1990. It's a wonder the feminist types don't forbid this from playing on you tube, so many people act so overly sensitive today. I love his hit Who's Julie, too.

Per: www.cnn.com {11-19-2017} Country music legend Mel Tillis died early Sunday morning {Nov. 19th, 2017}, according to a statement from his publicist. He was 85. Tillis died at the Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Florida, after battling intestinal issues since 2016, said spokesman Don Murry Grubbs. The suspected cause of death was respiratory failure. Tillis was a prolific singer-songwriter who penned more than 1,000 songs and recorded more than 60 albums in a career that spanned six decades. Many of those songs were recorded by other country music stars such as Kenny Rogers, George Strait and Ricky Skaggs. His commercial peak came in the 1970s when he had a string of top 10 hits*, including "Good Woman Blues," "Heart Healer" and "Coca Cola Cowboy." In 2007, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Before making his way to Nashville, Tennessee, the songwriter briefly attended the University of Florida. He joined the US Air Force to serve in the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, where he spent his time cooking and singing on Armed Forces Radio. May he R.I.P. * Between 1958 and 1999 he had seventy-five records on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, thirty-four made the Top 10 with six reaching #1; "I Ain't Never" for 2 weeks in 1972, "Good Woman Blues" for 2 weeks in 1976, "Heart Healer" for 1 week in 1977, "I Believe In You" for 1 week in 1978, "Coca-Cola Cowboy" for 1 week in 1979, and "Southern Rain" for 1 week in 1980...

I first heard him singing this song on the telecast of the CMA Awards in 1976. He was sitting on the steps of the stage, singing it. I wish someone would post the entire telecast on You Tube. Someone posted part of the telecast. He was presented the Entertainer of the Year award on that telecast, and he made a rather moving speech upon receiving it. I still remember that. I was about fifteen years old at the time.
