It really is a big deal. When I was at Berklee, the assumption with women was they either played piano and/or were singers. When a woman plays a male dominated instrument she brings a whole other vocabulary to the music, a different accent and intonation. It’s not ‘girly,’ it’s just not more of the same old thing most guys bring to that instrument.

I got mine a few days ago, in "Polar White" with mint green pick guard. It's looks, plays, and sounds beautiful. I especially like that the second tone control is for the bridge pickup. This is my first Stratocaster, so I can't really compare fairly, but the pickups have a little more bass to them than I would have predicted... but still very articulate, clear, and bell-like.

Beautiful guitar playing. She's right on target about the design of the Strat and how many sounds you can get out of it. Contrast Fender's approach to announcing a new guitar line to Gibson's. Gibson stubbornly continues, while on the brink of utter ruin, to pander to 60-year-old lawyers and stockbrokers by issuing Les Pauls whose prices continue to spiral upwards. Meanwhile, Fender is looking to the future players and putting out GOOD guitars they can afford.
@JRCGuitarist

kynoceph I actually liked the newer lines of Gibson’s and don’t see why people made such a big deal out of it. The beautiful colours and designs on a few of them was better than the standard stuff they’ve been selling. Fender isn’t doing much of anything new to me, and are expensive which is also pushing players to foreign made guitars. Why spend a lot of money on a new Strat that doesn’t offer much else than the Strat you already own? I look at the Strat she’s playing and don’t really want one. I only came to see her play. It’s not all that different from the two I already own. That’s why I’m more interested in buying a Gibson than another Strat. Gibson’s have the Les Paul ES-335 or an ES-355. Both of which I’ll be buying. I’m not a fan of Tele’s, so, the only guitar that I like from Fender is the Strat. I’m also thinking of switching to PRS.

Have you played this new Fender series? Holy cow, they are amazing!!! I just bought a MIM guitar last week then these came out, after trying them, I feel like kicking myself. Both guitars are good but the Player is great. I can't return the MIM it was a Reverb purchase.

EXACTLY I adore Gibson’s models but honestly I feel a high end Epiphone is good enough for most guitarists and more affordable

Why can't Gibson make some affordable Les Paul Jrs??? Wasn't simplicity and affordability the point in the first place?

Really lovely style of playing here, I'll have to check out more of Melanie and it's good that she mentioned not confining the Electric Guitar to just Rock or Heavy Metal (both of which I like, by the way). Electric Guitar is such a versatile instrument.

It's nice seeing people in my generation in love with guitar as much as me. She's undoubtedly much better, but I feel as if the passion is missing from many folk nowadays; and she's got it.

Agree to you Salvador, my Strat de Lux and 57 Reissue has a maple fretboard, sounds powerful in the combination with overdrive and compression. My standard Strat and Tele with rosewood fretboard sounds warm and a little bit darker using for clean sounds
