Today we sit down and talk about our travels in Victoria now that we're in a new state! As usual with our travel summaries we run through a full breakdown of our expenses, what was a waste of money, what was worth the money, what we regret, our favourite campsites, our least favourite places, our biggest challenges and more.
Thank you so much for your patience while we were having hard drive issues, we should be back to posting weekly again from now on... we can't wait to show you what we've been getting up to and are excited to continue our lap. 💙🚐

💛 In the spirit of reconciliation we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
About Us:
Hey! We are Lydia and Wehan, welcome to our channel 💙🚐
We're from Perth (Australia) and are currently doing the big lap of Australia in our self converted Sprinter van.
Feeling unfulfilled and unhappy after building the life we thought we should want, in 2021 we decided to to sell our house and quit our corporate jobs so that we could go on the big lap of Australia in our self converted Sprinter van. Having barely travelled previously (besides a one off trip to Bali) and being hardcore 'planners' we were worried we were making a huge mistake but we've been on the road for almost 2 years now and haven't looked back.
Our goal is to continue to push ourselves outside our comfort zone; seeking new adventures, learning about new cultures and seeing as much of the world as possible. We hope you enjoy watching!

I was born in Melbourne and bought my RV in 2013 and parked outside work for two years before getting my super out and doing the big lap. I used to Free camp at the Twin B Ps on the Geelong Freeway or at Meredith Park in Colac. On Sundays I would go to Vic market and have two hours free parking without going into the market park car park, then go to the Harikrishna Temple in Dank Street where they serve 3 free meals a day. Then fill a container then divided into portions and put it in my freezer and then go back to my campsite, however If you go to Vic market around 4:00 o'clock you get boxes for a dollar, "dollar a box, dollar a box" During the week you can get free parking down King St, I think it's one hour which gives you enough time to grab some food at the market, anyway good luck with the travels enjoy FNQ. I moved there in 2020 to escape Dan Andrews lockdowns lol

12 Apostles? For couples who will never be able to travel down to Tassie or Antartica, visiting the 12 Apostles is literally going to the ends of the earth for each another. The residents of Victoria, we all pay the annual parks fees in our water bills, for everyone to enjoy. Although we talk about the four seasons in one day or the rain, it's not a complaint, it's what makes our state known for being The Garden State.

Definitely a beautiful spot and so rich in history, sadly quite touristy and we just didn't have a great experience! Fantastic that it is covered, as we mentioned we were totally surprised as we're used to just buying the park pass straight away when we enter a state. With how often people mention the 'gloomy weather' in Vic we expected way worse but we actually had pretty great weather, it's just those odd rainy days that made the grass boggy 🤣😅 ... so beautiful and green however especially as prior to Vic we'd spent a hot summer in rural SA!

Really glad you mentioned not coming to Gippsland. You missed out on one of the most beautiful parts of Victoria. Gippsland is an extremely diverse area. There is so much to see and do. You’ve got the high country- towns like Licola, Walhalla and Dargo. You’ve got the lakes- Metung, Loch Sport, Raymond Island (Paynesville), Lakes Entrance and Mallacoota. You’ve got the Beaches- Golden Beach, Seaspray (both on 90 mile beach) and Inverloch. You’ve got Wilson’s Promontory- which is the southernmost point of the Australian mainland. You’ve got Tarra Bulga NP with Agnes falls. You’ve got the Snowy River, you’ve got Buchan caves. There’s just so much on offer here, and you’ve just skipped it all. I know you say you’ll come back, but you won’t have the van and the freedom to just roam around. Really disappointed that you spent so long in Tassie and so long in Victoria’s west but just skipped over my home, Victoria’s hidden treasure.

Honestly we found this comment pretty hard to hear and respond to but we agree, we have missed a big beautiful part of Victoria. We began a huge amount of research into the state and know majority of those locations you mentioned. The decision of not going there was very hard to make. While we kept the conversation quite light in the video and mostly focused on it being a huge detour, we have placed an enormous amount of pressure on ourselves to cover ‘everything’ when we travel (hence why the small portion of the lap we have completed has taken us 2 years). The reason we spent so long in Tassie is because it was more than travel, we found a sense of community and put a huge amount of that time into volunteering and wildlife rescue. However, to be completely honest we struggled with how long we were there. As much as we loved Tassie we had big family issues pop up midway through, were painfully homesick and felt like moving quicker was better for us and who we are as people and how we like to travel. We hear you and understand your disappointment but we needed to make this decision for us. It absolutely does not mean we won’t be back or won’t have the freedom to properly enjoy it.
