A regular 5 gallon steel bucket filled halfway with sand (or talcum powder) would weigh over 50 lbs. So even if that bucket was only 1/4 full of sand, it weighed 20-30 lbs. Throwing that at a person's head could kill them. Goalie is lucky it was just a 'glancing' blow, or else he'd be in much worse shape

City fans throw flares into the pitch. Izzo picks up and doesn't throw it back. Puts it down. Game waits. Due to citys behaviour, Melbourne have to step it up too and throw a flare. Glover walks off the pitch, picks it up, throws it back into the crowd in an underarm fashion. No harm. Victory fans throw it back. Glover picks up again and this times throws it back in a throwing action at the fans. Fans react. Glover gets hit. Game called off. Game and its core fans suffer as a result of a boiling pot of issues. Game going to shit. Fans being sold out. Fans pissed and are going to protest. Then player has a brain snap and then about 100-200 Victory "fans" have a brain snap and one assaults Glover with a trash can had to put out flares with chalk by throwing it at his head. Glover did stand there as if to insite them. Thank heavens city fans didn't go on to fight. Thank heavens. Game is in big trouble and the real fans and players are suffering.

you say it as if it was goal keeper guilty to pickup a flare.... but the fan are in reality "ultra", who came with forbidden tools like spray, flare, etc .., they have agressive song, agressive streamer, agressive behavior, they are wearing black like a bunch of troublemaker, they throw stuff and invaded the pitch. you have an hooligan problem guys, like many european club.

The bit that I saw on this video at the 24th second Clover picks up the flare and throw straight back INTO the Crowd behind the goalposts. GAME ON. He should have ignored it and place the flare somewhere esle safely but he thew it back at them. That in my humble was the start of this unfortunate incident because at that point the crowds was already in a state of aggro for whatever reason just waiting for one single little thing to ignite the fire (Flare thrown back to them) and it was all on. I do nor condone this but there is always two sides of the story. Sport wether rugby, soccer, tennis you name it has become a fertile ground for aggrevation, assualts, fighting for various reasons. Not good. I never go to staduims never.

Ultras in European games regularly throw flares onto the playing area. Goalies usually kick them off the playing area. Or if its to risky the Marshalls stick them in the metal bins. This keeper provoked the whole incident by inciting the crowd by throwing it back into them. Hes lucky. In certain volatile games the crowd would been baying for his blood
