This is so sad and should be a lesson for everyone to not fantasize a version of celebrities just because of the character they are playing on screen. I remember shipping both Marley and Rider when I was younger, hoping they would be together but not realizing what was truly happening when cameras were off. I hope she heals from this trauma as this will only make her stronger and Learn to trust again as she is well worth it. I hope the next one will treat 100x better and shows her how a woman should be properly treated.

Even though his character on glee was supposed to be the “nice guy”. I got a sinister and violent vibe from him. I saw the Jimmy Fallon interview where she made the potted plant excuse, I knew then. Her posture became stiff, her eyes had fear in them, she was fidgeting her seat, and when she told her excuse her eyes shifted to the right. I am so proud of her for speaking out. I am happy that she found someone who can cherish her for the treasure of a human being that she is.

I have done some extensive research into their relationship, and there is no doubt in my mind that Blake Jenner was Melissa’s abuser. Age difference, projects they were working on, social media post, circumstances, etc. I have put together the timeline of their relationship together, projects she subtly references and the injuries she suffered. Everything lines up perfectly. On top of all the evidence, the biggest clue is maybe the least obvious. If Blake was not the man Melissa is referring to in this video, wouldn’t she have cleared his name by now? After all the backlash, reticule, hate, and overall extremely negative attention Blake has received since the release of this video. If he were innocent, no matter the circumstances of their breakup, Melissa would have spoken up. Their actions since this videos release are what really convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt. He hasn’t been active on social media since November, his comments have been censored, and he has made no official statement in an effort to defend himself, because he knows he has no defense. He took Melissa, this beautifully inspiring bright light of a human being, and nearly extinguished her. He PERMANENTLY injured her, mentally and physically. He tried to hinder her successes because of his own petty insecurities. I could go on and on about how horrible this situation was, but if I’m being completely honest, Melissa’s story is one of the happy ones. She got out, found true happiness with Chris, and is soon to be a mother (which she no doubt will be fantastic at). But a lot of women, and even some men, do not have that luxury and we need to talk about this more. From March 2018 to March 2019, there were 1.32 million domestic abuse related incidents reported to the police. And each year more than 30,000 people die due to domestic abuse, 70% of these victims being women. We need to be mindful and careful of those around us, because you never know who’s suffering behind closed doors. #IstandwithMelissa

She is honestly Supergirl in real life for having to go through this and then speaking up about it. I am so happy that she has Chris now and they are expecting a little baby boy in a few months.

I can't image the courage it took for Melissa to come forth, publicly. By doing so, like Kara and supergirl, Melissa gives hope and courage to others that are in abusive relationships. She is not only a beautiful person on the outside but also on the inside. Like her character, enduring mental and physical pain, yet maintaining a caring and positive attitude. YOU GO GIRL!!!

My mom went through abuse. She had a phone thrown at her face and her eye swelled up. She now has a scar above her eyebrow that will be there forever. I love that she is speaking out. It helps people.💕💕🥰

Last winter when this news first came out, I went to see a play in New York (Cyrano) - with Jasmine Cephas Jones, Peter Dinklage, and -- to my horror - Blake Jenner. An audience full of Game of Thrones and Hamilton fans had no idea, and I was shocked they let him go on that night. Small production, maybe no understudies? Anyway, it absolutely matters who it is, because he financially benefits from people NOT knowing, and he enjoys privilege as a public figure that shields him from accountability as long as we don't know. I was on the front row of a packed mid-size off broadway theater, and remember staring into his face and realizing, he's relieved I'm clearly the only one who was aware of the allegations. He does not deserve relief. Social pressure and shaming is the only thing that works with people who rely on public affection. It matters who it is. And our rejection of him matters too.

I'd like to point something out that many might miss. She said she was choked. In DV we say strangled. He strangled her. 90% (a real statistic not an exaggeration) of abusers who strangle their victims end up murdering them. Those who strangle are killers. Period. She is lucky to be alive and he deserves to be in prison for attempted murder. Her life will be permanently changed and the damage to her long term health will never be recovered. I'm glad she is out but the abuse doesn't stop just because they left. The memories and the effects of the physical abuse last a lifetime.

She stayed because she came from a broken home and didn't want to fail like that, too. I felt that! I did the same, plus I had kids I didn't want to put through divorce! My abuse was emotional, not physical... the scars it leaves aren't visible to others and it's hard to get them to believe that he's threatened your pets, hid guns in the house, tried to get you fired from your job, destroyed your credit, stolen your mail, etc...So on top of everything, I had external pressure to stay with him. All I can say is, be kind; you never know what someone's going through.

When I watch supergirl, Kara’s and Mon-el’s relationship seems so real, and authentic. I am proud of Melissa, she fought a mental and physical battle, that she shouldn’t have fought alone, or even at all. She is now safe with Chris, and her baby.

Sometimes when you are in something like this, you don't realize the extent of it until the pain is too much to just ignore. If he hits me, but I'm ok then it didn't happen. If he punches me but there are no bruises, then we are fine. It's hard to admit that the person you love more than you probably love yourself, is toxic. Proud of her for taking a stand and getting the heck away from him!

Blake Jenner came out and confirmed that he was the abuser and “apologized.” I have that in quotes because it was barely an apology. He eventually tried to victimize himself. And regardless, apology or not, it would never make up for the years of abuse she endured and it will never make up for the healing she will have to go through and live with for the rest of her life. He left a scar on her, physically, emotionally, and mentally, that she will never be able to get rid of. It’s absolutely disgusting that people like that actually exist, but it’s even more sickening that they get away with it. So much more respect to Melissa. I’m glad she shared her story, it’s a brave thing to do, and I hope more people will have the same courage to come out and share theirs, but if not, I hope they’re aware that they’re not alone in this and that everything will be okay.🤍

Idk if I’m reaching but it never made sense to me, especially after they made the new kids leave after s5 after all the hype that surrounded them.

I cried the entire time I watched this video. I relate so deeply to her story because just 5 months ago this was my life. My ex isolated me and hurt me making me believe it was all me, it was my fault and I was horrible and untrustworthy. I feel better knowing that someone I look up to is healing and working through the same thing. I feel for her and send her all my love because I know how hard it is to heal from something so awful and traumatizing.

I watched Glee from the very first episode right till the very end. It's heartbreaking to see and know that she's gone through this. Hearing how her voice shook as she talked about her abuse was saddening. But also, hearing how calm and confident she sounded right after she finished her story towards the end shows how happy and comfortable she is right now. Traumatic experiences will not heal easily but I'm glad that she's making positive progress! My heart goes out to Melissa. She's a really talented actress. 💛💛💛

It's almost two years now since Melissa opened up and I constantly find myself coming back and while still getting emotional feeling very proud of how strong she is and how she managed to move on. Look at her now, she's married to a much better person, has a kid, has brought life to a beloved superhero, has progressed from actress to director, has been on Broadway, and has even started her own production company. She's such a sweetheart too, beautiful inside and out, and a true inspiration to all. We love you Melissa, never ever forget that. I want that man to be removed from production of Merrily We Roll Along. It's going to take 20 years to film, it's not too late to recast the role. On a personal note, I didn't experience physical abuse, but rather emotional and mental abuse. He also physically and emotionally raped me. (Emotional rape is a real thing.) 😉 I remember that the first time I told anyone about my experience, I was terrified! She is way braver the I. This gives me hope. I see my story in hers. Down to the letter except one big obstacle, we have 2 kids. I’m isolated and have nothing of my own(money, car, real job) it’s another way to keep you stuck and dependent on them. They are so insecure and afraid that you will smarten up, get stronger, and say ENOUGH AND LEAVE. They love you most when you have one foot out the door. Mine just threw coffee on me (and $2,000 worth of recording equipment he bought with OUR $$). I was more worried about the equipment because I knew that I could make him care more about that then me. It’s a vicious cycle but mine doesn’t even apologize anymore for the abuse and cheating. 12 years in and he knows how stuck I am even though he knows I don’t want to be with him, I don’t love him, and I in fact hate him. I have told him I can not stand to even be around him. He cares more about keeping and controlling me and our kids then if I love him or if the kids are happy. When we fight and I stand up for myself he puts on his father of the year hat when he really does nothing for anyone not even his kids. It’s a sorry excuse for a life and one day I will get out with my kids and be happy. Her strength is a beacon to others who suffer the same abuse. It turns helplessness into hopefulness.

The way she explains how she justified his actions is exactly what I did with my ex boyfriend... I thought my love and willingness to love him despite his demons in his mind would show him how to love himself. I never thought I could heal his demons but that I could show him what that life could be like and I could be someone to help bring him out of his darkness. It’s so heartbreaking to hear her story because nobody expects someone that you love and loves you to hurt you in the worst ways. Such a strong woman I have so much respect🤍

Every detail of Melissa’s life also happened to mine from the childhood, to the marriage, to the psychological trauma. Every bit of it was my life. Thank you for sharing your story Melissa. I remember telling an identical story of what happened to me from when I was with my exhusband to the NCIS when they finally got involved. It was 4 pages long of what all he did to me. So many details are identical. Physically, mentally, psychologically, verbally, financially... every detail you described from the phone to the eye, to the juice being thrown on me, to the psychological trauma and fear I experienced, the physical abuse.... I feel like we are identical in a way. I also am 31, if that is your real age at the time of me writing this, and yes I still feel like I am healing from it although the last time I saw him was back in 2009.
