I’m a normal personal and I’ve never had an issue with Patricia, idk I feel she’s generally a good person… she seems open and honest and down to earth. There’s so many horrible horrible influencers and and as far as I can tell she not one. It not her fault I’m broke 😂 so many influencers have no money bc they aren’t financially intelligent but they have a “you can’t sit with us attitude” all the while Patricia’s ‘the break’ platform has been putting people on. If anyone deserves the success it’s her…

I have watched Patricia grow and evolve. There comes a point in life where you have choices that’s that. We forget that a great weave and install can cost £500+ for human hair, Patricia can stop putting a price on things and just promote the brand…but essentially she’s saying she has special needs where her hair is concerned which takes special products and application. So ultimately, she sees the value more than we would. People forget that Patricia lives within HER means 😊

I think it’s because Patricia discloses the cost of her luxury as Melissa gives luxury with less of the promotion of price. I think they’re both hard working woman like many others and should enjoy the fruits of their labour to whatever that may be for them financially.

The problem is, to be an influencer you have to inspire people to reach for reachables. It’s usually very simple, new make up, clothes and trends. But there will be some like Patricia who’s ride becomes unreachable to her audience, the people who put her there. Therefore there becomes a disconnect. It’s very easy to say “why isn’t everyone celebrating” when the reality is most people are struggling economically. Again not her fault. But for her audience to be met with constant lavish content, it’s unproductive and creates a discontent and disconnect. It’s knowing your audience, and it feels she’s forgetting who her audience is. This comment isn’t specific to Patricia, just the psychology of why people in positions of influence sometimes lose that audience.

I think with the braids (black hair in general) thing, there's also an element of 'black things shouldn't be expensive/cost much money' - non black hairstylists have been charging a wide range of prices, from affordable to very expensive, and everyone accepts it. When black people want to charge 'a lot', a lot of time it's 'I know an aunty that does it for 70 pounds' or similar statements when although they have a point, I think people should also just accept that we have range and if it's too much for you, that's fine. Don't knock someone else for feeling like they want to spend their (EARNED) money on a service that truly satisfies them, and most importantly, they have the ability to. Live and let live!

If she has the money to spend it and she wanted to go to someone who does good quality braids with human hair and who won’t use gels etc that she might be allergic to, what really is the issue? Like the outrage doesn’t make sense to me 😅

Happy for her or whatever but spending 1K on braids is barbaric

I have no issue with Patricia’s wealth but I did start to get put off by certain comments she would make that showed insensitivity to her audience. So I stopped engaging with her content. She’s rich enough that she doesn’t have to worry about whether or not people like her, so I wouldn’t worry about her to be honest. As to why other people don’t like her - I think it’s a combination of jealousy and a dose or ageism as well.

I think you missed the mark here girls. Whilst both content creators are successful in their own right they are completely different and appeal to two different audiences. Melissa is completely authentic and people love that about her. She has shown us who she is from day one. She is rich but relatable and more importantly she is LIKABLE. Unfortunately Patricia’s main demographic is white- partly due to her being married to a white man but also she panders to white people so she is unrelatable to the black community. It’s not a secret that her classist tweets have not worked in her favor either. Watch her interview with wumi bello where they discuss her backlash from the black community. It’s a very honest interview and it’s sad that although she has come a long way however something isn’t working.

Who cares? People are slow and envious. Patricia can afford it.

The difference is that Melissa is more honest, less of a character? Like she seems to be the kind of person who isn’t influenced by money, whereas Patricia has been regularly called out for looking down on people because of her success

I think Melissa is just classy and glamorous. Patricia does not pull that vibe off because she is not naturally as put together as Melissa.

stop comparing them. Negative people love to compare women and then pit them against each other putting one down
