Here is a melodic dubstep/chillstep tutorial for y'all. I didn't cover mixing in this video so if you have any questions just leave 'em in the comments.

Jesse Ng watching stuff like this helps but it’s important to experiment on your own in fl and just figure out what sounds right for you - it takes thousands of hours of practice to be able to make things of this quality

Have been listening to chillstep for maybe 10 years now, and I've been fascinated with how expressive it can be. And you just showed me the path on expressing it myself. Thank you for inspiring me. This song hit the right spots, and made me want to pick up music making so I can one day give the world something as meaningful as I've experienced listening to masterpieces such as this one. Loved this! Maybe think about doing a mixing tutorial for this genre? It's something melodic dubstep uses a lot of but just like top plugins to use or do ones for chords, lead, bass, fx, etc...? Anyways, love this tutorial, it's simple but sounds amazing. Keep it up!

Very good work! But there is only detail with the chords , it is not F7 it is an Fmaj7 and the last one would not be Csus4, rather it is a C add#11. Excuse me, but I'm a Musician (Guitarist / Bassist) and I can't stop seeing those details xD I'm just starting to learn music production, but these kinds of tutorials help me a lot! Cheers!

C add#11? Not to nitpick here but there is no sharp 11 in that chord... it's just an add4 chord (you are correct though that it's not a sus4 because the 3rd is present). Also as long as we are nitpicking, since we are in the key of D minor the third chord in the progression is not A# but rather its enharmonic equivalent Bb, since Bb is contained in the D minor scale and A# is not. But besides that, I have to say the song itself is very well done, you did extremely well at getting the balance of all the sounds right throughout the track especially during the drop

Absolutely amazing tutorial, I friggin love this a lot. Also, just wanna point out that melodic dubstep and chillstep are two different genres. This is melodic dubstep, chillstep is slower and has more gentle sounds, some popular artists are Aether, Direct, Sublab etc.

I think you executed their style very professionally and accurately, it's so well mixed! and at the start when I heard those distorted synths, I didn't believe it would work well in the mix, but I was so wrong, sounds awesome, great job! Love your comment! I actually used the direct wave piano that comes with stock FL. You can find it under: Packs>Instruments>Close Grand in the file browser.
