Such a common story! Some married men love to get single women to stroke their ego while they have their wife at home. It's gross!

I swear we have had so many similar stories!!! However, I wasn't in Korea, I was in Taiwan. I've learned to stay away from military men overseas... side note: the part of the story about men getting the wrong idea, and expecting more from you when you just want to get to know one another, hits home! I've been celibate for over a year and so happy that I am. I feel like I should just wear a shirt that states that fact, so men know up front that they ain't getting none.

I wish to interject on my behalf as a male and as a person that once was in the military! First i apologize for the experience you had, sadly i watched that happen. Also showed my disdain for that type of actions when i saw it. Now what hurts me more is now there's a bad association for service men who genuinely have good intentions. Really bad people are bad people and good people are good people. No matter what affiliation they claim. I know you were telling your story, others have been in the same boat, and comments will say what they will. I dont want my name to be disparaged because of me wanting to serve my country. Love your channel and keep up the good work. You are doing GREAT!

my sister had a situation with a army guy in the states. They were dating for a month and sleeping together, they were getting serious. She brought him to meet our mom and she got some vibes right away from the guy something was off. She did a name search on the internet and found out the guy was married. When my sister confronted the guy he said it was a female in the military and it was for convenience/benefits only so married on paper. She was able to contact her online and nope according to her they had a legit marriage but it was an open one, meaning when they weren't together they were allowed to sleep with other people but they loved each other. He decided to lie to my sister and i'm assuming any other girl he started a relationship with....complete jerk.

My sister met a guy like that recently... I don't know the whole story but like he had a girlfriend and baby. Why would someone do something like that ??? I don't get why people cheat on their partner. If you don't want to be with that person exclusively, why don't you break up with them ?

ღ lucky seven ღ I can of 3 reasons. 1.. It is called greed and lust. They want their cake and eat it too. They want to get next to another girl or many girls so they do what they have to do reel her in. 2. They want a guarantee that they'll always have someone to run back because they are insecure and so they LIE to keep a steady girlfriend waiting in the wings while they fool around. 3 They are lazy cowardly f__ks who can't manage their relationships and are afraid of conflict so they don't break up and get bossed around because they don't want to get "in trouble" with their girlfriend or wife. STAY AWAY FROM THESE JERKS!

Great story time. But I just wanted to say, that I live in the states and have been using Kakaotalk for years. Reason being is that I have many Korean friends. So it wouldn't be that odd to see a foreigner who is not going to stay for an extended period of time in Korea with a Katalk account.

I want to be stationed in South Korea so bad but certain jobs only have certain bases. Also generally those stationed on bases outside the U.S. are generally there at least 2 to 6 years, plenty of time disrupt English teachers and other non native or even native Koreans. Good thing you never let him come over. Military guys are definitely not immune to stds ...quite common with them actually.

Flip side* I had the most amazing Korean experience because of the US army. Not American myself, but made friends with a US ROTC group (5 men) and they became family. Might be because some were Kyopos or some genuinely into K culture, but I think it's always best to make individual judgmennts of people. Be weary but don't discriminate because of someone ele's experience. *Not to belittle Mel's ugly experience just thought I'd offer a varying antidote.

I know this video is from long ago, but I have a similar story too Melody. I met a Korean guy online, he was cute and funny so we started talking on Kakao as friends. He lives in the US and I live in South America so was basically a virtual thing. As the time passed he started to tell me that he was falling for me, that he wants me to be his girlfriend and blah blah and to be honest I liked him too, so we started talking on video calls too, my spider senses started tingling over and over about stuff, so I started to notice that suddenly he had to go offline during the calls or stuff. For the same reason that you asked this guy his Instagram I asked his Facebook, he resisted but at the end he added me, and wow he had like hundreds of girls added as friends. I found out he had a Vietnamese girlfriend, so I asked him and he said oh no is not a big deal, "I will delete her as friend", and he actually did. Days passed but something was still off. He was like I wanna travel there and have a life with you blah blah so I got more cautious, one day while I was here on KZfaq I found his KZfaq channel and OH MY GOD I found HIS WEDDING VIDEO, yes, wedding... he was married, off course that was the end of it, he told me he was sorry and that he didn't wanna to loose me...what homie???! Just a play boy. Girls be aware of online guys, seriously I learned my lesson.

As a military wife, that is pretty typical military behavior for a lot of the guys-usually in security forces (sorry to you honest guys in security forces) it's just been my experience. They call them 'Dirt Bags' it's their official military term. When my husband took us to our first military hosted 'Family picnic' in WA, I overheard this conversation between two guys, where one guy was complaining saying "My girlfriend won't stop asking if I'm cheating on her." and his friend responded saying "But dude, you are." and he got all upset and to him. "Ya, but she doesn't know that!" There was even this process I learned about through my husband, who learned about it through the guys he worked with. That were certain things girls would do when when their husbands were away and they wanted to cheat on them. It's seriously a disturbing culture to live in when you want to be in an honest relationship with your spouse. My husband was here in Korea for one day before he called us and told us we had to fly out here to be with him cuz he missed us too much. So far there has actually been a lot less of that behavior here than in America, from what I've seen. But I've only been here 1 month. I'm just glad we're not living on base, so I don't have to be around that stuff anymore.

Yap. If it smells like shit, chances are if you lift up the rugs, move some furniture around a bit, you'll find some shit...dog shit. We should always go with our gut, or at least don't ever ignore it and silence it by a shot to the head like it's some sick dog. It's a guard dogs duty to sound the alarm after all , and it's up to us to choose how we respond. But hey, it's not just military guys who are like that. You'll find guys like that everywhere and around every corner. Picture it! That's some creepy shit, right? ;) haha.

Was his name James T Herring? Oh the stories I could tell. And he was in the Army, in Korea. We had dated previous when he was stationed in Va. 2 years later he was on leave from Korea and came to visit me, and he wanted to propose, found out he had a secret fiancé and newborn daughter in Virginia Beach. Kicked his butt to the curb real fast, called her to let her know what was going on because this fool played me for 2 years prior. And at the time she was pregnant with their daughter.

Girl I love your videos. I live in Ocala but I'm originally from NYC. I had a question about the salary there, is it weekly or monthly. I saw your video about living there and my oldest son had that question because he's interest in teaching abroad. Thanks for your time.

it seems like maybe he wanted to get rid of you and he knew you would leave on your own once you knew the truth and he wouldn't have to do it. it was for the best, you don't need that drama.

He may have been lying about being a military man too. Did you see a military id? He may have been married to a Korean girl or ESOL teacher ( and had a girlfriend in the States) and used the "military curfew " so he would not have to explain why he had to go home to his family. Don't give him a second thought.
